The only problem with a schedule like that is that there are no P-5 games. Now we all know that teams like Nevada, Buffalo, and Murray State will probably be better than half the P-5 teams and SLU could be really good this year, but it's not only a perceptual issue. As with any midmajors, those teams can be very succeptable to having some bad games on their schedules and the resultant rpi drop that comes with that. Gotta hope they can all hang in the top 40 range.

But still, that's a decent schedule especially if you get the Nevada game.

SIU has yet to defeat a Power 5 opponent under Hinson (I believe only one of 2-3 MVC programs not to during those six seasons), and part of the reason is they have not gotten into any quality neutral court tournaments with marquee opponents. This would have been a great season to do so.

Pretty balanced. 2-SEC, 3-MVC, MTSU and Wright State certainly even out the 2 SWAC's and 2 non-D1 games.

With Marty out of the scheduling business, I bet those SWAC teams are scrambling to fill out schedules.

Not bad from Murray State or Missouri State. Home slates are a bit weak but solid work overall.

It's an absolutely terrible home slate for MSU. Road schedule is pretty decent, but at home we have one good game {WKU} and one game you can call a regional rival game {ORU} and the rest of the home schedule is just crap.

We haven’t gotten many good invites to MTEs. The Nashville tourney a couple years ago was okay vs Valpo and Drake. Two years ago we played in the Bill Frack tournament at Bowling Green. Not exactly where you want to be in November. We were in the Gulf Coast Showcase the year before with Milwaukee, Pepperdine and Weber St. that was okay. In 2012, we were in the Charleston Classic which is a good one. We beat Auburn and St Johns and Lost to Colorado there. The year before that we won the Great Alaska Shootout.

All in all, MTEs are great if you get some good games, but if you get stuck with dregs they don’t really help.

We need to get your Racers into the MVC so that they can get into better tournaments.
