If the Big Ten could find a way to let in Nebraska--they had the same debates on academic reputation--the MVC can let in Murray State.

As noted, is there really a big difference academically between Murray State and SIU, UNI, etc.? To me, they are all solid, affordable state schools.

To your point — the ACC letting in Louisville. ACC dismantled its T100 gatekeeper to admit a school more than double its lowest rated school.

This is very interesting. A prelude to a conference shuffle up between the two to tighten geography and save everyone money?

They should just change and keep it that way. Not like either are a major player in FBS football or basketball.

Problem with that is that there are some teams who left the Sun Belt to "move up" to CUSA. A reshuffle might alienate those schools.

I realize rpi isn't the greatest but the sun belt finished ahead of cusa in both.

I have no reason to doubt that, but for many fanbases, the move was supposed to be a move up from SBC to CUSA. Honestly, looking at the costs and lack of prestige in both, it looks more like a choice between getting kicked in the nuts with a golf shoe or a baseball cleat.

I'm just waiting for the mvc to do this. Drake, msu, and uni go summit, western, eastern, Siue, and fort Wayne go Mvc, and Evansville or Siu go ovc. Nightmare scenario that Elgin would do.

Don't worry. That'll never happen. Travel might benefit those schools but the level of competition would be such a dropoff that it would kill that proposal before it even started. Say what you will of Elgin's reluctance to expand but that doesn't mean he's actively out to kill or implode his own conference. The reason it's possible for the SBC and CUSA is because the conferences would still be roughly equivalent in strength even if they split along geographic lines so it's a win for the schools. That MVC Summit OVC proposal is not a win for any of the current MVC schools. The MVC enjoys a wonderful advantage that most conferences don't in that it has a very tight footprint while having good competition. Most conferences have to choose one or the other, but we have a pretty nice mix of both and have a chance to get even better without totally sacrificing the geographic compactness of the league. I firmly believe the MVC will expand soon and that we will like the new addition(s).
