They are as light lipped as any group I have ever seen. I tip my hat to them for that. The MVC never let's the cat get out of the bag. I, as well as other MVC fans, love to speculate. That's part of the fun of it. But the statements I read and hear such as "it's a done deal" are so incredibly bogus.

Dark horse candidates Chicago State, SIUe, and SEMO have been confirmed to join the MVC in 2022.

Just gives teams another win? Are the playoffs lucrative? One in five teams get in the playoffs. Is one more victory against a bad team going to hurt? Is Murray guaranteed to be bad?

Is there some other reason other than they are not considered good enough? I would think SIU would want them as a natural rival.

This. MVC basketball adding a good Murray State could be worth millions of dollars in the occasional extra bid or better seed. The MVFC adding a bad Murray State won't hurt the Dakotas' quest for bids and even if it did FCS playoff teams tend to lose money anyway. It's insane if as some have suggested the latter is holding back the former.

Exactly. One is a top tier competition, the other is third tier. They are hardly equal.

If this is true then it's Murray's need to park their crappy football that's the holdup. Go Indy, find another FCS conference like the SWAC or join the Pioneer like Morehead.

There are two schools that would really take some convincing for Murray to get into the MVFC (UNI and Missouri State) but there hasn't been a vote and there won't be one until the dust settles.

Ideally, the OVC/Southland football only league happens and takes care of Murray Football.

How's this for convincing: A better shot at multiple bids for the sport that really matters in this league?

Also I read in this thread (or a different similar thread) why we are concerned that UIC and UTA might tank the league. It's because some schools would be trading the chance to play upper tier MVC teams (Drake Bradley MSU UNI presumably Belmont etc) for schools that will probably struggle thereby driving down the overall metrics of the league. If we're going to expand and abandon the double round robin that has been so core to the intimacy and solid rivalries of this league then we need a better reason than a hope and prayer that the school(s) we add MIGHT be good. I've heard past performance is no guarantee of future results and that is true but I'd trust a school with a track record over a hope that a school will become consistently good any day. Banking on potential is risky. Just because it worked out with Loyola doesn't mean UIC and\or UTA will work out. This league needs quality right now with the defection of Loyola not maybes. Go with the school with the track record. Go with Murray State and only Murray State.

The SWAC would never take a PWI. The Celebration Bowl garnered 2.6 million viewers and its value is directly tied into everyone being an HBCU. The SWAC regularly leads FCS in attendance and is a different animal entirely.

It was rumored 1-2 months ago Murray's AD or President met with the Southland in DFW. My guess is that was for football, as it wouldn't be for full membership.

If that meeting went well (not saying it did or it didn't) then what's taking so long?
