Hi, SDSU fan here. Now that most of the non-conference schedules are out, I'm curious about why we can never seem to secure a home and home against a Valley school. It would seem to be a win/win for both schools. Recently we are a pretty consistent top 100 RPI, from what I've seen of some of the schedules being posted we would be an upgrade over some of the schools being scheduled.

Do you guys think the hold up is on our end or yours? From my perspective it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't happen since everyone is trying to raise their profile either as a conference or individual school.

I think any of us would love a home and home with SDSU. If NDSU can (and, they do) then SDSU can. Maybe it's not "US".

Maybe one day in the somewhat near future you will automatically have 18-20 games vs Valley schools.

I doubt this series happens anytime soon.
From your perspective it is much better to go try to beat a decidedly brutal Nebraska or Colorado, than a very good Illinois State (for example).
The MVC is on the rise performance wise, but perception is vastly lagging.

To the eye Nebraska and Colorado are better for the schedule even if they are not better. When it comes to numbers ISU is better to schedule. It is also easier to schedule ISU. That's the way ISU has gone. Scheduling high mid majors. Brigham Young, Belmont, Central Florida with their 7'6" beast, Murray State several times, high level MTE's. Hopefully, the MWC/MVC challenge returns after not having it next season. With that schedule you don'the have to have a buy game from a P6.

Perception wise it would look better to lose to a power five than to a MVC school, but the problem is neither one of us can get those power 5 games, or else we get one or two a year. Maybe SDSU vs Evansville doesn't look sexy to the less engaged members of our respective fanbases but one would think that our coaches and AD's would see the value there. I would much rather have a home and home vs. an MVC opponent than to have a home game each year against a sub 300 opponent.

You've got a home and home with UNI, its just that your home game is in Minneapolis. UNI has played in Brookings within the past decade as well.....and took an L.

I understand that you and I would.
The average joe wouldn’t however.

Valpo's schedule is solid overall, but for how strong our road\neutral schedule is our home slate is BRUTAL It makes Hinson look like Muller and Bradley look like UNI in comparison.

You took two buy games? You aren't in the Horizon anymore, boys. Time to schedule like a Valley school.

Only one buy game. The WV game isn't a buy game it's part of their campus site MTE. They also may face WV during the actual tournament, too.
