Still wishing failure upon others since you can't do better for yourselves? Stay classy.

I don't think anybody is wishing failure on the Shockers or the AAC but they see the conference for exactly what it is: a marriage of convenience for schools that would much rather be (and probably belong) somewhere else (Cincinnati Houston Memphis UCF USF) and schools like Tulane and Tulsa that only got added because those were the rules to have a Conference Championship Game in football at the time. In its current iteration, the AAC is a highly unstable entity that is rife for a split in the next realignment. It will likely continue to exist but whether that takes the form of a beefed up version of its current form with Big XII holdovers or if the leading AAC schools join the Big XII under its banner leaving the AAC as a lesser version of CUSA 2.0 and a greater version than CUSA 3.0 is anyone's guess. Wichita State should be hoping that the former happens because that may keep Navy in the conference and allow them to further bolster their scheduling power because if they get left with the Tulsas Tulanes ECUs and SMUs of the world it's not going to be fun for them but even then they would have options such as the Mountain West where their addition is balanced out with the addition of Gonzaga. I want to say the Big East because their program has earned the right to be in a premier basketball driven conference and with Creighton already there geography isn't an issue but I don't think they're an institutional fit at all for that conference. In my opinion the addition of UConn was a one-off exception owing to shared history not a sign that the Big East is going to continue accepting applications from public schools. That said, they could surprise us all and take a Wichita State or a VCU. It wouldn't be the first time conference realignment has surprised us all.

Shocker fans equating their school's basketball team to their own self worth is one thing I don't miss.

Yeah, the teams we choose to support don't have as much of a following as the team you choose to support. But that doesn't mean YOU are a better or more successful person because your team is better than mine.

We aren't the ones having success or not having success. Its a game. We are fans.

This is very true but you can't tell me that you weren't just a little bit prouder smiled just a little bit broader and walked just a little bit taller when Jesperson hit that half court shot to beat Texas or when Farokhmanesh slayed Kansas.

This is such a dumb argument. I don't think I've ever seen someone say they are more successful than another fan because their team is better. People have called out other for being dumb because they have dumb takes ... like this one. You are right, we are fans. We are going to brag about our team when they are successful.

Stickboy,

I'll be bragging on some of the Bulldogs tomorrow as Iowa United plays a Shocker team tonight at 8 central in Wichita on ESPN in the TBT tournament. Looks like a good Shocker team. Iowa United has Reed Timmer, Josh Young, Nick McGlynn. Jok and Baer from Iowa, Some Iowa State Players. Should be fun to watch.

I was there. That was a fun game. Atmospheres was great and completely destroyed the attendance record for the tourney I think the previous record was 2500 and attendance was 7100.
It's too bad both teams were missing key players.

Oh and before it's mentioned. Cle should have been ejected for that elbow. He's a talented dude but his attitude is bad. Marshall earned his pay in keeping him in check for two years.

The previous record was set in Peoria at RenCol when we hosted the TBT Midwest Regional the year after Always a Brave made the Final 4, losing then to the Ohio State alums in the S16. That team was mostly former players on our 2006 NCAA S16 team and they finally hung it up this year. Could have gone all the way in 2016 if Ruffin didn't get hurt. POB was mostly injured and Lemon was supposed to play but went back to Bulls camp last year and AAB was a major upset victim.

Plus the Elam ending was a much better ending to the game than another foul and free throw fest that goes on forever.

It's really not a dumb argument at all. Not for some Shocker fans that used to frequent this board. I liked a lot of them (shox fans). But some were very hard to take and at times made this board almost unreadable. Baller and several others absolutely tied their teams success to their own self worth. There's really no other explanation for their constant put downs and belittling of other fans particularly those fans of the less successful MVC teams.
