Before NIL ruined the game, I would have said this talk about Evansville leaving the conference was nonsense. They were never anything more than one good hire away from being competitive for championships. now, I don't know. At this point they are one billionaire way from being competitive. With the new rules allowing schools to pay players directly, I'm not sure that money should be spent on coaches anymore. Maybe some school should try hiring a low cost coach, and using that money to pay players instead. A coach can't win without talent, and you can't get talent without money. There are a lot of great coaches at all levels.

Agreed. In every pro league worldwide, the best players make more than the coaches.
Anyone want to argue this isn’t a pro league anymore?

1. They aren't better equipped than 50% of D1. I can get to 150 teams they're clearly behind before I even start to look at MAC or Sun Belt schools.
2. Maybe I'll search for the thread sometime. But there was a lot of Kool Aid consumption.
3. Yet, Evansville (and Valpo) is still at the bottom. No one else may be special to you, but they've all managed to run circles around the Aces and, despite the NIL/transfer portal, still are.

I have never gone to a game to see a particular coach do his thing. I have gone to a ton of games for a particular player or players.

If fans are going to spend billions of dollars to follow these sports I’ve never understood why fans don’t think players should see that money.

To be clear, I want Evansville to be wildly successful. Lots of potential there but I question the administration. Valpo is toast, imo.

Yes, we are all stepping stones for the P4. However, you're going to see three classes emerge from Divison I. The P4 will dissolve and form their own professional league, separate from the NCAA. UK has already done this with their announcement this week.

Then the second tier will be the true mids. The AAC, CUSA, MVC, A10, and a handful of schools stuck in low major conferences. Some low major schools in those mid-conferences (like Valpo) won't make it, but the true mids will stay in the NCAA and pay the players.

The last tier will be schools who will have to drop to DII or lower. I'm talking about the Valpos of the second tier leagues, the OVC, Southland, SWAC, etc.

Essentially there will be 50-60 former P4 teams in a new professional league, 50-60 teams in the new Division I, and the rest won't be able to afford to compete.

1) odd of you not to know that being in the top 150 teams still puts you in the top 50% of D1. I don’t know what school you went to or root for, but maybe they didn’t teach you math at your state or directional school.
2) You said it, not me. Back it up or shut your trap.
3) Run Circles is a wild statement. If run circles is a few possessions then you really nailed it.

I don't know if they teach reading comprehension in Evansville, but I wrote that I could get to 150 before I started getting into the s***** schools.

It's been 30 years of Evansville being at the bottom. You can't defend that.

I’m going to push back on grouping Evansville with Valpo. The Aces have run deep in that city for generations. Despite being a perennial bottom-feeder, they’re still in the top half of fan bases in the league year after year. That’s how you provide value to the league even as a bottom-feeder. They have one of the best stadiums. They bring a rowdy group on Thursdays to STL that’s decent for a Thursday crowd.

Remember how close they were to the CWS last year. Not MBB, but it shows what they can pull off in one of the major sports.

Evansville has a decent-sized, passionate fan base. Remember when they drew 7k+ people against Murray St 5-6 years ago. If the Aces taste success, that city shows up.

Valpo doesn’t have the arena or fan base of Evansville’s. That’s not comparable, IMO.
