I wouldn't be surprised to see 7 Creighton plan 10 Iowa State. NCAA loves story lines ever if they won't admit it. I'm going to say 6 Butler vs 11 Wichita State for the other MVC game.

Last 2 in:

Last 3 out

The bubble is 5 plays 2. Boise St, LaSalle, and St Mary's above it, followed by a triumvirate of power conference schools. They ain't missing. On the other end, I pruned Kentucky and Maryland, which I feel better about.

Virginia I'm close to pruning too, but too many big wins to take off the board at the end. I took a long look at MTSU and their win over Ole Miss, but they've got a couple teams in the way.

I'm very afraid about Ole Miss, because this is the type of situation the committee will just put the team in to save time on Sunday. They usually find a hot team the last couple days to latch onto. So they move ahead of Tennessee, whose hot streak is enough I think.

I don't have the intestinal fortitude to move UMass into the field, but that's a red-alarm situation I'm looking out for. They have a legit chance.

Over on the top, Gonzaga had one too many big boys hold on. I looked at Duke and Gonzaga for the 4th #1 for forever. Too much quality for Duke. I'm prepared to go to the wall with this, but Gonzaga will be the 2, not the 1, and if they're a 1, it won't be more than the 4th #1. Lock it in.

As for Miami, I'm probably not putting them ahead of Gonzaga. If Gonzaga wasn't there, then Duke/Miami would be back-to-back on the S-Curve and I'd swap them, meaning Miami to the 1 line. But I don't think Miami gets around Gonzaga today.

Ohio St for the first freakin' time all year gets to my 2 line. I really wanted New Mexico there but OSU forced my hand.

Creighton is really teetering between 7 and 8, and I think they may get procedured to one or the other based on needs. Wichita will be a 9 or 10. Drama free in the Valley.

Several contingencies left on the board. Ole Miss can play out of the PIG, Florida can still lose a seed line, and New Mexico (or Florida) can overtake OSU for the 2. VCU could jump a seed line too. Ole Miss, because of the "top 3" rule, would actually blow up my current bracket so hard I'd have to redo from scratch.

As for the first round games, I've gone:

8) Colorado St vs. 9) Wichita St, in Kansas City, with 1) Kansas awaiting. Obviously, the dream scenario. But be forewarned, this literally just dropped into place for Wichita, so we'll see.

7) Creighton vs. 10) Colorado in Salt Lake City (ew, slight disadvantage playing CU in SLC). Winner against Gonzaga.

As evidenced by CSU/WSU and Creighton/Gonzaga, I hate mid-majors.

Meanwhile....

NIT

EAST
1) Massachusetts (21-11) vs. 8) Northeastern (20-12)
4) Arkansas (19-13) vs. 5) Louisiana Tech (25-6)
3) Providence (17-14) vs. 6) Stony Brook (23-7)
2) Maryland (22-12) vs. 7) Niagara (19-13)

MIDWEST
1) Kentucky (21-11) vs. 8) Charleston Southern (16-12)
4) Florida St (18-15) vs. 5) Charlotte (21-11)
3) Middle Tennessee St (28-5) vs. 6) Mercer (21-11)
2) Iowa (21-12) vs. 7) Northern Iowa (17-14)

SOUTH
1) Virginia (21-11) vs. 8) Robert Morris (23-10)
4) Xavier (17-14) vs. 5) Indiana St (17-14)
3) Southern Miss (23-9) vs. 6) St John's (16-15)
2) Alabama (20-12) vs. 7) Stephen F Austin (23-4)

WEST
1) Baylor (17-14) vs. 8) Norfolk St (21-11)
4) Stanford (18-14) vs. 5) BYU (20-11)
3) Air Force (15-13) vs. 6) LSU (19-12)
2) Arizona St (21-12) vs. 7) Long Beach St (17-13)

Last 6 in
Charlotte, Indiana St, BYU, Northern Iowa, LSU, St John's
Last 6 out
Washington, Denver, St Joseph's, Ohio, Detroit, Richmond

It's getting dicey for ISU and UNI. That H2H loss to Denver could be problematic for UNI in particular.

Washington/St John's is a whatever decision, but if both go and a mid major gets shafted, it's now UNI in that spot. Just short of a record of NIT bid poachers.

I think Lunardi is about to push Wichita into Dayton because of Ole Miss. Ignore him and his slander.

Yes, that would suck for WSU. However, Elgin and the MVC would love it since they'd get a full NCAA unit for the First Four game. He might be calling and asking them for the favor as we speak.

i think the odds of the shox getting a 9 are about the same as the jays getting a 6.... not good. which is good for the shox, think they could do some serious damage from the 12 slot.

I've made an executive switch, Gonzaga back to the one line over Duke. I'll restore faith in the committee.

My final bracket........unless Wisconsin wins. Then I'm putting OSU on the 3 line and New Mexico on the 2, and then I blow this up again.
