I also belong to a state high school wrestling forum. I thought people on that forum were one sighted, opionated, testy, arguementative, rude, etc. -----then I joined this forum and find the same type comments/posters---maybe a little more literate since I assume most on this forum are college grads.

ROTFLMAO! Yeah, because everyone here just LOVES you and your tremendous insight! Hell, you are in about three shouting matches on this board right now!

How many screen names have you been through? ...and yet you still haven't fooled anybody.

And I don't see what was so arrogant about my post. A Redbird fan FIRST told WSU fans to shut up and I countered with my superior response. Fans typically respond this way, especially on message boards.

And please don't act like Illinois State fans are all in line with your holy plan.

Apparantly, you've never been to or watched a sporting event outside of Redbird Arena before.

Suck it up. The winner goes the spoils, the loser mellows and takes it. If you can't stand my one responsitory remark, then either you've ignored this site for its 3 years of existence or are incredibly in need of some testosterone. Or you could just leave the whole sports fan board hysteria altogether and do something more rewarding in life, like picking up litter or something.
It's actually because a good number of us ISU students and alums are from the Chicago area where there is a lot to do unlike Wichita unless you like staring at corn fields and milking cows. So there is more for us to do and have our minds set on. There is simply much more to do in Chicago than Wichita which the Shockers will find out when they travel to Loyola next year. In addition, ISU has football even though it is only FCS so we don't have to wait the whole year for one sport so there is more to set our minds to. Most people at ISU like basketball more, but at least we have football to keep ourselves busy with in the mean time.

Really? There's more to do in a city with 3 million people than a metro area with 750k?

You don't say.

I don't get this crap about "my city's bigger than yours." Is this what people who stay in the same place their entire lives seriously fight about? There's hardly nothing to do in Wichita ... it's the biggest city in the state. I've lived in nine different states and some of the biggest cities in the country, as well as several different countries. I'm still very happy whenever I go back to Wichita. There's nothing to do in west Kansas ... Wichita has plenty to do.

I like when people try to get the last word by saying the other person can have the last word. As if the last three times you posted wasn't about trying to get the last word.

Look, I get what you guys are saying, but if you can't handle taunting from fans of other sports teams, you should probably reevaluate your decision to participate in a sports-themed internet forum. I will taunt MVC fans about WSU, I will taunt anyone about Florida State, I'll taunt baseball fans about the Braves start to this season ... when I move to Seattle next year, I'm sure I'll find a way to taunt people about the Mariners. I don't know how I'm going to do it yet, but I'll find a way. Hell, maybe I'll start watching Seattle U and try to find a way to taunt people about them. Bragging when your team is doing well is pretty much a foundation of what being a sports fan is about.

I mean, I know that being from Chicago you wouldn't know anything about that, but maybe you'll get a chance to learn one day

Seriously, get some thicker skin. The wonderful thing about sports is that you can literally make the stats say anything you want. Anyone can argue about sports. And it's a hell of a lot less serious than arguing about politics, so just find the stats that let you fight back and don't degenerate into this "you're just a meanie" stance.

This is funny. People are jealous of WSU run and WSU fans think they are the next Gonzaga. Both delusional sides collide to give us this pissing match. This will not be the last time either sadly :Bam:

We can't be the next Gonzaga. Gonzaga never got to the Final Four.

Boom.

Seriously, I think you guys are failing to understand what being a sports fan is all about. Your team does well and you brag. It's what makes watching your team suck and dealing with all of the people who mock you during that period bearable ;)

I don't buy bolded part of this for one second.

http://shockernet.net/forum/showthread. ... the-Valley

I don't care what you buy. There's the numbers, budgets in post #4. I feel like we've done this before where you call me out for your gut feeling and I prove you wrong with the actual numbers. You never seem to respond again after that. Interesting.

Bradley has taken a loss in two of the last three years to 2011 (last year the Department of Education has stats). Creighton lost money on their basketball program in 2009. SIU lost $750k that same year. Drake has lost money for three straight years.

Illinois State and Evansville regularly show a perfect breaking even on their balance sheets for the basketball program, a regular trick for programs that lose money and have to transfer money over from other sources to balance them. By 2011 UNI, SIU, and Indiana State had also picked up that trick. The only other possibility is that they're profitable but moving profits over to pay for other sports ... but based on their attendance numbers, I doubt it.

Generally speaking, the numbers match up with attendance figures, where the teams with the worst attendance draw the last amount of revenue. Which is pretty much common sense. The only team that breaks that mold is Bradley with 7700 fans or so on average, but Bradley also has the third highest basketball budget in the conference making up for that.

Your idea of a message board appears to be different than ours. Say some of these things on ours and expect a ban or something or at the very least chastized, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I don't understand your point. I've not been proposing football should be a factor in MVC realignment. If I was going to be greedy, I'd want a team with a strong women's volleyball program, but that shouldn't be a factor either.

I would also rather the money was put into the sport that drives this conference >=)
