All consume NIT bids.

Also takes a lot of the fun out of potential Round of 64 upsets, as all of the above sans High Point would've stood a legitimate chance. Probably not the year to pick 14+ upsets, though I do like Stephen F Austin.

And you can combine this post with mine showing Indiana St currently 4 spots from the NIT bubble. ruh roh

I've never paid any attention to how NIT bids are made. Do they automatically go to teams in one-bid conferences that win their regular season but lose their tournament?

I believe that is correct, if you win the regular season in your conference, you get an autobid to the NIT (unless the NCAA comes calling ;) )

Official Indiana State bid poach watch:

Big South (High Point)
A-Sun (FGCU) - this is a borderline poaching because Mercer would've had a decent chance at a NIT at-large bid, but we'll count it as a bid poach for now
Horizon (Green Bay)
A-East (Vermont)
SoCon (Davidson)
MAAC (Iona) - again, this is a borderline case because Manhattan could've gotten a NIT at-large bid; I'll count it as a bid poach, but it's close
Northeast (Robert Morris)
OVC (Belmont)

8 bids are poached. There are 13 legitimate bid-poaching conferences left to go, plus an additional two (Mountain West, CUSA) that can be bid poachers if the wrong team wins.

I don't think Indiana St is going to make it folks

I will be upset if we get Kentucky in the second round, not because I think they're any good, but it would be another case of us getting screwed.

We get Greensboro, Portland, and SLC. We finally get a 1 and get a close tournament site and then we get stuck with a team that's closer to the site than us and has the best traveling fanbase in the country. Vomit.

I think they would make Kentucky play further away.

No they wouldn't. Quite the opposite. All they care about (after bare minimum considerations) is maximizing butts in seats. If they have a St Louis/Indianapolis path open for a team located in the state of Kentucky, they'll use it 100 times out of 100, whether it's Kentucky or Western Kentucky.

I do suppose if Villanova is a 1 seed in Raleigh, that also fits geographically for Kentucky. A Raleigh/NYC path.

By the way, that St Louis regional could be stacked with big fan bases. For example:

1) Wichita St vs. 16) who cares
8) Kentucky vs. 9) Kansas St

2) Kansas vs. 15) Eastern Kentucky
7) Memphis vs. 10) Iowa

We know Wichita will travel, Kentucky and Kansas are behemoths, Kansas St is close enough, Iowa and Memphis are plenty close enough.

I thought being a one seed gave you regional home court advantage for the first two games. What is the rule there?

I believe the only rule is that top 4 seeds are protected from a home court advantage in their opponent's favor in the first game.

"To recognize the demonstrated quality of such
teams, the committee shall not place teams
seeded on the first four lines at a potential
“home-crowd disadvantage” in the second
round."
