You see players dribbling up top all the time and they never never look down to see where the halfcourt line is. Why? Because they have played 3000 basketball games in their life and know when they are getting close. No. This one is on the player.

Totally agree. Creighton had to know the line was hard to see. Why was AY that far out when he knew seeing the line could be an issue? The coach also has to take some of the blame.

I also hate excuses. That one play, out of the 300 plays in the game did not win or lose the game. First off, there was no guarantee that creighton was going to win that game had that play not happened. Second, get a stop. Creighton still had a chance to send the game to OT. It drives me nuts when people say that call lost us the game or that play won the game for us. No one play or call can win or lose a game. There are just too many plays in the course of a game to pinpoint a win or loss to one play.

If there's a line, I can gaurantee there's no violation. Jays either win or go to OT.

I do tend to agree with Aces on this one. If there being no line was such a big deal this would have happened more times in the game or some other time during the year. Shouldn't you see that you are near a huge O and realize you are close to half court?

That being said it is a tough way to lose, and there should be a line. I would probably be just as pissed if it was my team, but objectively I cannot see to blame anyone but the player.

Blaming Nike and Phil Knight? Real classy. I hope you know your Jays are also sponsored by Nike. Maybe if you can prove to me that Phil Knight or someone at Nike designed the court and purposely didn't put a line there for exactly this reason then that carries some weight.

Knight paid for the arena bearing his son's name. No one think Nike had anything to do with this or that it was intentional. Cmon. There should be a more visible line and that is the issue. Maybe they need to standardize the courts like they do for the NCAA tourney.

What would be the point of a home court advantage if the courts were standardized? Do you think Boises blue turf isn't a huge advantage?

BTW does anyone have a video? I want to see this play. I just really think if it is that hard to tell where the center of the court is how did the ref even know?

Okobojay linked the video on page 2 of this thread (11:33 last night). It looks like the Oregon player pointed the violation out to the ref.

Thanks. And that does change my opinion a little bit. I think the Oregon player was pointing before he even crossed the line. The ref didn't even know.

I still think he needs to be a little more conscious of where he is at, but a line would help out quite a bit as well.Tough tough way to lose a game. Even though I blame him I still feel bad for Antoine Young because no one wants to lose a game like that. I was really hoping Creighton could pull that off. How awesome would it be for the conference to have won 2 of the 4 post season tournaments?

How close was Singler to the basket when he made the game winner? It sounds like Creighton let him get a really good look.

Didn't follow the game. I did read the box score and a few followup articles. The backcourt violation didn't cost Creighton, turnovers and freethrow shooting, did. Make three more freethrows and Creighton wins going away. Turn the ball over one less time and Creighton wins.

As for the violation, it was a joke and it did happen more than once this season. It was a problem for several Pac 10 teams. The fact that the Oregon player pointed it out to the official should pretty much settle that discussion.

Oregon fans rushed the court............................. Really? They won a third tier tournament against a "midmajor" and they rushed the court? Hilarious! Creighton fans can take some solice in knowing that if some BCS teams beat them, it is a big enough win to rush the court!!! :P

Lastly, I can't think of a more fitting way to end the season for Creighton, the same outcome as several games this season. Several games where they led or had the opportunity to win at the end, only to fumble it down their leg.
