Doug had 10 pts and 5 boards in the US win over Canada today. Next up is Lithuania and the #5 pick from last week's NBA draft.

I have a feeling that Doug is going to be everybody's All American before his time is up at Creighton. He's getting great publicity from his participation with the US under-19 team and he's a likeable, well spoken kid who represents that school and the conference as well as any person here would hope someone from their own school would. if he continues to develop, I think he could be the next Korver or maybe even have broader appeal for national honors the way Fredette did this year.

I'm not so sure he'll be as popular as Jimmer, I think part of his appeal was that he was a threat from ANYWHERE past mid-court and sometimes even that wasn't enough. Plus if he didn't score 30-40 pts then you could say he was "shut down" or had an "off-night". I don't see Doug being like that but I completely agree with everything else you said, he certainly could be a national darling if he puts CU on his back and propels them to the Top 10 level. I'm just skeptical that it would be to the level of guys like Jimmer since they're different types of players

USA flamed out of the tourney today with an embarrassing loss to Russia.

ESPN article referred to this team as one of the worst ever. Forty-nine invitations were sent out and only 20 accepted. Most of the top players declined preferring to stay home and attend Summer school, especially, the thought-to-be "one and done" players. Their coaches encouraged this action as it wouldn't hurt the school's grade/graduation rate drastically.
Regardless, this had to be a positive experience for "Doogie."

Forty-nine invitations were sent out and Creighton was the only one to have a representative from the MVC? WoW! Great job Doug!

Is there a list of players invited? Not saying anyone would say no but I just want to have proof if there is going to be such a claim.

Comparing him to Jimmer is reaching kind of high but it's certainly possible. He was awfully good as a freshman. If he can continue to develop each year over the next 3 years it's very possible he could become a transcendent star like a Jimmer Fredette. That would be good for the whole Valley.

Some of my best memories this past year are of Doug and Weems dueling head to head. This year should be more of the same.

US wins again to finish 5th which is the best they could do after losing the first game of the bracketed tournament. Have to assume Doug gained from this experience and maybe the old man was able to make some foreign recruiting connections while overseas.
