It has nothing to do with the thread. Indiana State can't buy opponents anyways so I dunno why the shots were taken at WSU's and CU's schedules from last year. They were still well beyond better than Indiana State's schedule is this year. The only reason I could come up with is the Sycamore fan didn't like the WSU and CU fan bringing a valid discussion point to the table..

Shots? I dont think I was taking a "shot" at the schedules but the Trees tourney was what killed their schedule IMO, comparing this years and last years is almost uncomparable in that area. Indiana State has a solid Schedule and it will improve more if Ball State can make the jump that most have expected from them for a while with forward Jarrod Jones (Future NBA draftee).
Idk much about Wichita or Creightons schedule this next year but I wish them the best.

A buy game doesn't make or break a season. I suppose it COULD help more than hurt so you have that. But in general I think it's best to have several 50-150 type RPI teams than 1 top 25 and several 200+ RPI teams. I know it's easier said than done, but that is what the Valley needs to try and do.

I think even Jerry Palm pointed out that it really doesn't help to do a 1 time road game against a top 25 team in terms of RPI. I guess it could help the "eye" test but that is what the exempt tourneys are for IMHO. If you get in a good exempt tourney with even a decent field you shouldn't need to be bought for a 1 time game.

Scheduling those games is not for RPI purposes, IMO. Its for a chance to pick up that one marquee win that will put you over the top resume-wise when selection Sunday comes around.

Frankly, I think it has more to do with the money received than it does a chance at a marquee win. It isn't a coincidence that the schools that take those sorts of games tend to be broke or teetering on the financial precipice.

The bottom line is clearly the money. Having a chance to win the game is a bonus.

Yes, one of the reasons for these games is the money. But to suggest that only schools that take these games are ones that are hurting for cash is just incorrect. Almost every mid-major takes these games every once and a while.

Boise State (114), Green Bay (171), Eastern Illinois (314), Louisiana-Monroe (325), Ball State (167), BB (?), Louisiana - Monroe AGAIN (325), Vanderbilt (27). Tourney possibilities include Arizona State (162), Dayton (70), DePaul(234), Minnesota(85), Fairfield (97), Wake Forest (258) & Texas Tech (165).

Solid schedule? If you think for 1 nano second that this schedule is going to be at large worthy, you simply cannot be helped. MAYBE if the Trees go 10-1 (with a good BB win) and 15-3 in the conference....MAYBE they are seriously considered for an at large, but I doubt it. And that's if they are 25-4.

That schedule doesn't sniff WSU and can barely see Creighton.

Apparently the struggles continue......I don't believe it.

Indiana State University Lou Gudino 812-679-9170 lou.gudino@indstate.edu

Looking for a D2 opponent to play at home.
Dates available are Dec 7-11
We provide rooms and a small guarantee
2011-2012 07/28/2011 - 1:51pm

That should enhance their at large chances. At least they aren't over-promising and under-delivering.

Small guarantee.....yeah, this conference is good.

Maybe they should have worded a little different
