Pretty good realistic analysis Paw. I'm somewhat more optimistic though. I think Gulley is the real deal for instance. And as much as I liked Riks I think we might be better at PG this year.

I think given the chance to start Caleb will give us some good offense. The thing that worries me the most this coming year is our post defense. And the time factor with integrating a new coach and so many new players.

Be prepared for Indiana State to win another MVC title. We will not surprise anyone this season, so we must be on our game every night.

Another MVC Tournament title?

I think the element of surprise is what helped you on your March weekend last year.

I don't think Missouri State fans would agree with you on that one. We beat them in the regular season and we have had their number recently.

Good luck this year guys!!

The element of surprise? C'mon man, that's lame. ISU started the MVC season last year red hot and jumped out in front of the pack, had a lull in the middle, and finished very strong for a 3rd place finish. If anyone was surprised by that team, then they have nothing to blame but themselves and poor coaching.

I realize ISU was not exactly an amazing team last year, but some of you are completely underselling them. They clearly demonstrated the ability to win last year, and they defeated every one of the top teams in the conference last year.

I realize you are one of Indiana State's charity workers and will never convince you the other side of the argument.

Lame? Not really. Factual? More than likely.

They finished 3rd in another year of Valley mediocrity. If UNI didn't lose a big, they would have barely hung on to an upper-division finish. They made a great run on that weekend. I'll give them that. But they are a team that did not strike fear in my eyes after losing 14 times, were swept by Evansville in the regular season, lost to the likes of Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, and Loyola, Ill and got pounded by 30 to a 21-loss Wyoming team.

Sorry if that makes me the town bully.

Just give credit where credit is due. Saying that the "element of surprise" was a big factor in what they did is just a sorry excuse.

If you look in the middle of my post, I believe I gave them credit.

And please don't inflate my original posts with more than what they were. I hate when people do that and you seem to do that a lot. I don't believe the words "big factor" were ever mentioned in my original post.

Did you believe Indiana State was going to win the whole thing in St. Louis last year?

I personally believed Creighton or UNI would have had better odds of winning it than Indiana State.

Count me among those that think the "element of surprise" had nothing to do with the Trees winning the tournament last year. They finished a solid 3rd and had quite a few quality wins against the upper half of the league. When we played them in the tourney final I know the Bears players and coach were not looking past them. They simply beat us in that decisive game.

Do I think they were the best team in the Valley last year though? No I don't. Looking at the whole season - I would put the Bears and WSU above them. That's just a matter of opinion though.
