good luck shox, great game!!

Clearly?

Would have expected a clearly better team to finish a much more inferior team better than that.

We weren't at full strength for 2/3 of the season so don't pull that lameass card.

You would be wrong. We had to watch the beginning of Michigan Indiana-Can't miss tipoff you know.

Yeah you're right, it had absolutely nothing to do with the beast name Gregory Echenique. Not like he altered many shots in the paint today or anything.

I agree that clearly the better team won, the refs were trying to help Wichita as much as they could and yet Creighton still wins with possibly Doug's worst game of the year. Congrats Wichita for a tough team, but Creighton is just too good for you.

I was about ready to congratulate the BJ's on their final win in the Valley but here you have a perfect example of a loser, even after a win. You win the game, complain about the officiating.. LOL, Doug had a bad game for no apparent reason.

What a sendoff. This is one of the reasons why you won't get too much sympathy when you struggle your way in another conference.

If it wasn't for our apathetic defense in the 2nd half that let your wide open HORSE junk go off, it would have been a different outcome.

Win and still complaining. Doesn't get any more butthurtish than that.

That was a great game. Doug had a really bad day -- but you have to give WSU some credit for some of that. Armstead and Hall were both men out there for the Shockers today and were a real load. Baker has a lot of potential. Van Vleet looked great the rest of the tourney. I think the Shockers can do some real damage in the tourney -- they've really started scoring better, and I've seen them on multiple occasions this year where they hit really big shots late in games. It's like they are never out of the game.

I think these two teams are very, very evenly matched on the whole. In Wichita, it was a 3 point Shockers win. On a neutral court (that was more of a home court for the Jays) in St. Louis, it was a 3 point Jays win. Even the game in Omaha was closer than the final score indicated -- Doug has 41, but the final margin is only 12 on a very emotional senior day.

My hat is off to the Shockers for the way they showed up in St. Louis this year. I'm not a fan of Marshall even in the slightest, and not really a fan of most of their players or fans. Doesn't mean I can't respect the way they played and fought to the end.

For the Jays, this was a huge game because it showed that they can win without Doug being a factor. Wragge and Manigat both found their shots again, Gibbs was solid, and Echenique showed why he is simply the most dominant defensive force in the league (and I don't care how many steals DSE got this year -- Echenique changes the game even when he doesn't get the block or rebound in the stats sheet). He was simply a monster all tournament.

IF this was the Jays last game in the league, it could not have been more fitting to come against WSU on Sunday in St. Louis, and ending with another Jays championship.

He did. But plenty that we just flat missed. So grats for the few he had a hand in. Plenty others that we just didn't make. SHOX will go farther in tourney. But good luck though. Hey I was gonna not say anything. But the backhanded compliments I can't let go

And to the less whiny, douchey Creighton contingent, congratulations on the title. It was a very good game with two teams that battled to the very last shot.

WSU started 4 seniors today. All year, we've heard about how much they had to replace, but they actually had more stating seniors than Creighton.

Fun game to watch, although I almost went into cardiac arrest down the stretch. :Bam:

Two things that surprised me in the last possession:
1) WSU didn't call timeout to set up a play (and maybe get Baker in the game);
2) Creighton didn't foul WSU, giing them the chance to only get two pts instead of the three they needed to tie.

Armstead cost CU the CBI (or was it CIT) title a few years back when he was at Oregon. Thank goodness he didn't cost the Jays the tourney title too...

I need a drink. Maybe several.

I echo this. To those Creighton fans that want to be classy, grats. I will end it with that

And all year we had to hear about how this was the best Creighton team in history, how they were going to cakewalk their way to an 18-0 season, etc.

3 starters down, 2 starters out for nearly the entire Valley season, lost by a game in the regular season and a trey in tourney final. Could have been different. I'll take it.
