Change one of the SIUs to MSU running on a flat tire! And me, I am an old SMSU grad and 60 year BEARS fan.

You can't be serious that you think this year's UMKC would have finished anything other than last in the MVC, can you?

By what metric, imagined or otherwise, would UMKC be slotted "in the middle/lower third of the MVC"?

UMKC would be DFL in the Valley, and there is not a single doubt about it if you are a sane person.

Listen, I am as open minded a guy as you will find here, but you are really stretching where UMKC is here and now.

Truth be told, UMKC's rpi this year was around 284. The worst in our conference was Mo State. The Bears were around 203. So you guys are a good 80 spots behind our worst team this year. Now RPI isn't the end all, but it's a decent barometer.

Speaking of RPI's, here is UMKC's over the last few years:

2013 RPI 284

2012 RPI 266

2011 RPI 212

2010 RPI 281

2009 RPI 309

2008 RPI 289

2007 RBI 245

2006 RPI 146

Have you actually paid attention to the teams' records over the past few years? Your assertion has no merit.

All of those current members that are currently struggling, would still beat UMKC by 20 points. SIU, Bradley, Drake and ISU have all hired new coaches and are on the rise. Drake is manning up to pay the new coach 400k+ and is scheduled to build a new 7 million dollar practice facility in the next year. UMKC went 8-24 this year. You average like 1200 fans a game. UMKC has NEVER been to the NCAA tournament.

You're correct in saying that MVC membership would help UMKC's recruiting. Unfortunately UMKC brings nothing to the Valley in return. Kansas City doesn't care about UMKC and that wouldn't change with repeated last place finishes in the Valley. Whoever the Valley adds needs to actually bring something to the league instead of simply taking from it.

No.

You'd be the worst team in the conference by a huge margin. You not only would not win a game, you likely wouldn't be within single digits of a single team in the conference once.

Your RPI would drop the RPIs of every team in this conference. 344 D1 teams and you're at 284?

You would eat a share of our NCAA tournament revenue without contributing anything in return.

No one in KC cares about you.

You play in a 1,500 seat gym and can't even sell that out.

Build a decent program and then talk to the Valley.

what is everyone's opinion on adding all 3 Horizon League schools at once? Valpo, UI-C, and Loyola-Chicago?

The Horizon lost Butler and did NOTHING at all, and now they have 3 members that are candidates for inclusion into the MVC. I can't decide if it's better for the MVC to sit at 9 for a year (and risk being picked apart in 2014), add one school from the Horizon and stay at 10, or add all 3 Horizon schools and settle at 12? There are pros and cons to every scenario. The MVC presidents have a difficult decision to make.

It doesn't appear there are going to be any better candidates to add in 2014 since St. Louis and Dayton apparently aren't going to be options. So I am guessing something will happen here in a few weeks.

From Elgin's comments, it seems pretty clear the number will be no more than 10. That said, fantasies are always fun to read.
