Drake was a one-hit-wonder. They have had some talent and size, but nothing to show for it.

It was obvious from his first game that Phelps was in way over his head as a head coach. He also left the cupboard pretty bare for his successor.

King and Mason were promising young players, and SVD plays good ball when healthy.
Drake needs a 'system' coach that hangs their hat on some schematic advantage.
Honestly, you won't find someone recruit higher caliber players to Des Moines.

Have you been to Des Moines? Behind Chicago for Loyola, it should be one of the easiest cities in the Valley to recruit to. It's certainly more attractive than Normal and Muller seems to be recruiting there just fine.

The issue is Drake's past ineptitude not the city.

I do take exception to the sitting at home part. What are WSU fans doing? Sitting and watching. Don't think that your fandom is superior to mine simply because you buy a yellow shirt and I buy a maroon one. And your team is better right now. I'd put my fandom up against anyone. We as fans are equals. Nothing more, nothing less.

The backlash you've received on your posts is all well-deserved. I admit you've taken it pretty well, but you've deserved every word of it, considering the nature and looniness of some, if not most, of your posts.

Sitting at home was an analogy for your team sitting at home. Yes, we all may be sitting down together, but my team was on national tv in April, while yours hasn't sniffed past the first weekend of March in nearly 15 years.

It was a subtle shot at you for your subtle shots at the WSU program and its fans. If you can't take it, then don't dish it.

I've been to Des Moines. It's a great city. With that being said, Drake isn't in the best part of town, and The Knapp Center is the worst home venue in the conference. (Haven't been to Loyola since their renovation) I understand that you're getting a practice facility, and that's a huge step in the right direction. Like it or not, most recruits are much more superficial than we give them credit for.

It's certainly more attractive than Normal and Muller seems to be recruiting there just fine.

The Town of Normal has seen some great advances in recent years, Uptown renovations being at the forefront. The new 4-star Mariott overlooking campus is a great addition and helps immensely on official visits. If we're looking to compare Drake and Illinois State, it's apples to oranges in my opinion; small private in huge metro area vs. large public in a 'college town.'

Truth be told, I am underwhelmed with Muller's first recruiting class.

I am sure that the first thing that 18 yr. olds are looking for is a modern downtown.

Most likely facilities, head coach, staff, degree programs, program statis, tv, and players sell it, and then city.

I wouldn't undersell night life when talking about college kids.

X1000000 give me a downtown with easy access to pot and booze and I can land you recruits. Just the world we live in today.

They could always go to Peggy's.

(are they still lax on their carding there?)
