This is said every year and simply isn't accurate. While it's true there is more inertia, it is not true to say you always have a W and an L. The reason is because all those teams that were played in the OOC aren't just getting an even number of W/L. The better those OOC opponents do in conference, the more it improves your team's RPI, and the more it improves conference RPI. That's why it's always better that MVC teams play teams that are going to do well in their leagues. I've seen conference RPIs fluctuate as the conference schedules are played out.
