Bradley beat DII West Va Wesleyan 70-60 today. BU was up 12 at the half, up 20 with about 8 to play and ended up winning by 10. BU was never challenged here, and for a change the game wasn't a FT fest. Walt had 31 on mostly layups.

We were a lil better on the defensive end but not good still.

Tyshon has still yet to get it going but I predict he has a big Friday night.

Walt looked like the best player in the conf!

Swopshire has hardly played ?

all in all tho  Lets get to 1 and 0 and just keep getting better.

I have not looked at the national numbers but I feel confident saying Walt Lemon, Jr. led the nation in scoring in exhibition play with 34.5 PPG. Means nothing of course but if they truly are going to stop hand checking he will lead the league in scoring this season.

That would not surprise me one bit, but why on Earth did Geno play him so many minutes in two meaningless games? I don't think Bradley is going to be as deep as I was originally lead to believe.

I think it's a little disconcerting that Lemon Jr scored that many points in two games and Bradley was only able to scoot by in two exhibition games against really subpar competition.

If defenses close out Walt, which that's what they're going to try to do, then I don't think things bode well for Bradley this year.

I don't think him playing as many minutes as he did against Upper Iowa was the plan. However, Geno also said he wasn't going to lose the game, either. Since BU couldn't shake them and would have lost without Walt, he had no choice.

That said, Geno is also trying to figure out how Fields and Grier fit into the rotation, and that requires Lemon playing alongside Bell and Fields at the 2, in addition to Walt trying to run the point with Grier at the 2--and yesterday, they had a couple brilliant plays together.

Depth is relative. I answered the question above in my previous post, but to your larger point: 2 years ago, BU had exactly 3 DI/Valley level players. This is the first year they will have an entire roster of them. Several of the freshman are incredibly raw, but will work their way into the rotation and should see minute increases as the season goes on. The juco transfers have been real inconsistent so far in the preseason, but Barnes should quickly emerge, he's a guy that can flirt with a double-double most nights if his shot is falling.

So the depth is there, but the impact of it will likely evolve over the season. Many BU fans are speculating that Prosser, our 5th year senior starting center's minutes will decline as other inside players emerge.

So goes Lemon, so goes the Braves.

Pickett is a known player and Prosser is a known role player. Bell is solid off the bench. It looks like Grier and Barnes are going to be very good! I don't think there is anyone else on the Braves that is ready to contribute meaningfully. Maybe later in the season, but right now Bradley looks thin on players. This is based on a little reading, so take it for what its worth.

Can't really argue otherwise right now. We're optimistic that we can have some legitimate depth at some point this year, but your assessment right now is accurate.

There is no doubt Walt Lemon is the most important player to his team in the MVC. No one would argue that.

The ball is in his hands the majority of the time. Right now Bradley knows what it is going to get out of six guys:

Lemon
Pickett
Barnes
Grier
Bell
Prosser

Geno wants to play 9 guys. With 7 new players minutes are there to be had. Will be interesting to see who develops as the season moves on.
