Texas Tech 0-21 from 3? No game stats from ESPN.

I've been taking a wait and see attitude about Loyola's success so far, but not any more. Where's that bandwagon - I gotta get on.

Here's an amazing comment - looking at rpi numbers - this is a game Loyola should have won. Think about that for a moment - Loyola takes on a B12 team that was 9-1 on the season, and Loyola is the team that should have won the game, based on what Loyola has done so far this year.

"Should have won" and taking them down by 18 - that's blowout territory - those are different things.

While I'm rolling along - do you think that Porter Moser might be motivated to finish ahead of IlSU in the conference standings? If Moser can pull out a 3rd or 4th place finish in the Valley, he's a candidate for CoY!

There's still more. Right now it looks like the Valley is better off with Loyola than with Creighton. Loyola's rpi is 81. Creighton's is 131.

BU 54 - UALR 64. Two numbers stand out in this loss:

50 - the number of rebounds Bradley grabbed. Half were offensive boards.
28.5% - FG percentage. Just another day at the office as BU ranks 323rd in D1 basketball FG %.

That in a nutshell explains where this team is right now. The 5 position is a huge offensive liability right now. Layups are harder than a 25 footer. This team is very capable defensively, but offensively offensive.

Finally a good defensive performance and some post offense. Winning without a hot shooting game by Marcus or Ruder is a big step up.

Nice win by Loyola. Congrats.

Speaking for our admittedly small fandom, last year there were two factions of Loyola fans-- those who were grateful to be in a league like the MVC, and those who were skeptical to change. I don't think there was complete buy-in from a lot of players, and it hurt us.

This year, our tiny fandom is much more in support of our MVC membership, but the new players are full-on. I was never a fan of the Porter Moser hire, but at this point he's done a FANTASTIC JOB with one of the weakest hands I've ever seen.

It could all come crumbling down quickly in the conference season, but for now he would challenge Ben Jacobsen for COTY with my vote. If Loyola could finish 9-9 in conference (after being picked for last), Moser might earn that vote.

Current RPIs:

Loyola: 80
Creighton: 130

Addition by subtraction indeed.

In my opinion, early in the season, it is now Porter Moser's to lose. Because of the Ramblers winning, the Valley NEEDS Loyola to play well in conference and finish in the top 1/4 to top 1/3.

I think a lot of MVC fans were skeptical of Loyola last year too, and even more so entering this season. I'm ready for a little Rambler Mania! Still a lot of work to do.
