We did this for many years it was called the ESPN Bracket Busters.

With all due respect, when it was BracketBusters, ESPN did it, for all the positives and negatives that come with that.
Some would ask what the invitees would get from the challenge. I would say that, along with getting road games from MVC teams, the MVC has a media package. Some of the teams that would be invited wouldn't have that.

WTF...

The MWC is in talks to do a annual conference challenge with the A10... So they'd drop the MVC/MWC Challenge for the A10. That hurts the MVC. We definitely could use a challenge with the other top Mid-Major Conferences.

I'm not sure there is any other conferences that would benefit the MVC to do a Challenge with. No chance we do one with the HL, OVC, or CUSA. I doubt the MAC would be that beneficial.

A-10 is better up top but overall the MVC is better. Plus, they fit better with the MWC regarding number of teams.

I don't dispute that but there is no denying this hurts us. I was hoping we'd be able to get a challenge going with the A10 but that looks like that's out the door now.

Commish elgin said in recent interviews that the MVC was in talks with "other conferences". Was that Conference the A10 and they said thanks but no thanks?

Technically by some metrics our conference was stronger than both the MWC and A10 last year, fwiw.

7 American 0.539

11 Atlantic 10 0.506
12 WCC 0.500
13 CAA 0.499
14 CUSA 0.490

The A-10 did have a down year but that's a pretty big gap to make up, .21 points. The AAC, A-10, or MWC or just let teams schedule a buy game with a P6 in it's place.

I don't see why the A10-MW challenge has to make this series end. All of these conferences should have multiple challenges with each other. It is the only way to get decent OOC games.

Would be great but unrealistic because the heads of conferences are stupid.

I think budgetary concerns dominate thinking on this. As much as we'd like to just set up games that would be good for fans and the league, our schools all have financial limitations. Some more than others. Try to convince 10 school presidents and ADs dealing with budget shortfalls to give up a home guarantee game for a possible cross country trip every other year to God knows where and at an unknown cost and you can see why these types of things aren't easy to schedule.

Looks like its official (or getting close to it). Why can't this be a 3 way agreement that includes us? When will the MVC be afforded the respect it so richly deserves?
