The way he has squandered one of the most veteran rosters in the country this year has been a complete joke.

Can't wait til he takes his huckster act to an MVC video-stream broadcast where it belongs. He's sucked the fun out of Saluki basketball.

I think BH would make a great AD somewhere in the MVC, or even as commissioner of the MVC, if/when Elgin ever steps down. He is a strong advocate and believer in the strength and tradition of our league, and as an AD, I think he would foster support financially and fan wise. If he doesn't take another coaching job, I think that would be his strong suit.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Anything to get him out of Carbondale is fine by me, but the way Hinson has scheduled over the years (until he finally was shamed into scheduling up somewhat this year with five returning starters), I'm not sure he'd have a ton of credibility as commissioner, unless you want to see MVC coaches be encouraged to load up on lowly opponents to try and flirt with 20 wins and fool people into cashing checks year after year with no meaningful return.

BH seems to have a respect for the conference, but I think he's too much of an insider to be the kind of status quo breaking commissioner we need for the long-term success of the conference.

I'd love to see the next commissioner bring back the scheduling mandate. Take away NCAA units from schools who don't follow the policy. Be hardheaded in your approach to ensuring MVC teams are challenging themselves in non-con. Of course, this is easier said than done and the commissioner should be working with other conference commissioners to help facilitate. This type of change also wouldn't be appreciated by the schools and a commissioner is going to need a stomach for that.

I'd think Barry would be really valuable in the league office! I don't think the MVC has ever had such a vocal advocate before. If not, I could see him ending his career as a DOBO somewhere.

A little off topic regarding scheduling; its tough. We all know that. It wouldn't be fair to take away the NCAA money from teams who can't schedule better. That said, I think there should be an annual report released of who teams ATTEMPTED to schedule. You can put a mandate on that. "MVC teams are required to attempt to schedule X number of teams in the top 100 NET." It's very common for coaches to try to schedule tough in the league (unless your Tim Jankovich), but other teams say no. I look forward to a new commissioner so the MVC can get some fresh eyes. My only fear is that they would end up moving the MVC Tournament from STL if there was a new commissioner. It'd be the first 'grand move' for the new regime.

I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Hinson runs for Governor. He’s received encouragement and offers of financial backing from PACs in Oklahoma before but decided to stay in basketball.

It is impossible to have tough out of conference schedule now. you can try to get into tournaments or take buy games. Buy games aren't probably a good idea long term. I'm afraid there is no answer.

It sucks making Sunday of Arch nearly every season. I would much rather play Thursday nights like your program.

And losing every time you get there?

Now that's funny right there! :D

Barry is finished at Southern Illinois. The relationship between he and the AD has soured. He can't win the big game to save his life. He might cut it at the Division 2 level.

No kidding. A joke for sure.

Had lunch today with a longtime friend of the Mullins folks. Said SIU’s pursuing Bryan for HC and left the impression it’s a slam dunk. Also mentioned Hinson’s been contacted for campaign tickets in 2020.

Really nothing that couldn’t have been surmised already but interesting to hear it.

I kind of felt bad for Greg Lansing in his post game interview. It's as if his players are trying to get him fired.
