Good gets for the dogs. The Birds were in on Jones as well but when little brother Mullins went to SIU that pursuit from ISU's side fell off.

Domask is the more polished freshman, but Saluki fans are really liking what they're seeing from Jones. He's very quick, very aggressive and has a good body for a freshman. Going forward, he needs to improve his perimeter stroke and just make better decisions in his overall floor game, but he could be a nice player over his career.

Among SIU's other freshmen, Sekou Dembele and Karrington Davis have barely played coming off injuries, and Trent Brown (supposed to be a 3-point marksman) has struggled and looks like he should have redshirted.

SIU got 44 of their 76 points tonight from Freshmen against Norfolk State. Domask had a double double with 18 points, 12 rebounds. Not expecting to make much noise in the MVC this year but already seeing some development from Lance Jones and Trent Brown so any kind of success is gravy.

The injury to Aaron Cook is allowing Lance Jones to get a ton more minutes than he probably would have gotten with a healthy Cook in the lineup. In Jones' case there has been noticeable improvement in each game since he took the reigns and I fully expect that to continue. There's some Mullins in him big time, like drawing 3 charges last night. The young man thrives off of assisting his teammates first and secondly is a force at driving to the hole. I also agree that his outside stroke needs some work. He along with our other freshmen have gotten me to foam at the mouth already.......

Let's just curb the enthusiasm on Jones and the Mullins comparisons. You act like you actually bleed maroon, not red.
Damn Saluki fans act they have the coach of the year, and the freshmen are all first team.
God bless, and oh ... Go SALUKIS!

In the 3 games since returning to the mainland Williams has put up 20, 21, and 37 points. 31-39 shooting, 4-6 from 3, 12-15 free throws, 10 offensive rebounds and 24 defensive rebounds.

Stephan Gabriel might challenge for FOY if he plays like he did yesterday. Hopefully it's not just a one off. Explosive and can shoot it.

I’m probably forgetting someone, but at this point I feel like FOY is a two horse race with Domask and Kennedy. I’d put Domask as the odds on favorite, especially given the amount of time he’ll be forced to play with injury (on top of his talent). Kennedy’s been so fun to watch and is gonna be a stud, but with Clemons back the last two games there’s less minutes to go around.

Obviously playing time is a big component in the FOY race. Gabriel won't have a chance at this rate but Wardle likes to tinker with his rotation and there's still a lot of season left.

Absolutely! And I'm excited to hear of another exciting freshman. This year the new talent has seemed pretty transfer heavy.
