I'm curious of how broad Title IX must extend to include this situation. Is it gross and inappropriate for a 45 year old man to have a sexual relationship with a 20 something woman? Yeah, absolutely, IMO. Especially when he is in a position of power and influence over her. But I would think the University would suspend him or ask him to resign over conduct detrimental to the program.

Will be interesting to hear some of the specifics as to what exactly happened

We lost our AD several years ago to a “Title IX” deal just like this. He was sexually harassing a university employee. It’s the POTENTIAL for a lawsuit here regardless of whether one is ever filed.

As are most of the posts he makes. Cries for attention. I recall him going to the Valpo board to slam private schools and go on an epic rant about how great the pool was at UNI. Posters like him can really ruin a board.

To the others who showed a tad of compassion..thank you. I have been an Ace fan for the better part of 50 years. Through McCutchan, the tragedy of the crash, the rebuilding and excitement of the Walters and Crews era, and of course the mediocrity of Martyball. After seeing great strides from our administration, supporters, fan base and coaching staff the last two years, this was nothing short of a kick in the sack.

Regardless of how this plays out (and I am still hopeful of a positive result), McCarty and Spencer have proven what I have been screaming for years..that with increased support from the administration, and good leadership, this program can once again draw the crowds and excitement we had for so long.

Even if you sell your soul to get the support and excitement you crave?

They didn’t sell their soul. Look at LSU and Arizona for schools who didn’t blink an eyelash at the FBI. UE handled this like an HR textbook: document complaints -> hire an independent law firm to investigate -> administrative leave.

I'm not talking about just this situation.

Then what are you talking about? I'm genuinely confused

What McCarty did is done,I've heard from so many reliable he has been a
train wreck waiting to happen since his arrival. We will lose all 3 incoming recruits
and probably some existing players. But,I will continue to support our existing team
because we still have a season to finish

Unfortunately all too common in sports still today. I have a tough time feeling empathy for UE when it sounds like the warning signs were abundant from the get go.

For the UE fans who recognize how scummy this is, I do feel for you guys. Hopefully this will enable a fresh start and better things to come for your program, that we can all agree on.

And this is why PAF shut down the PurpleAcesFans site. Stupid comments like this, rumors, and innuendos. Just let the situation play out and then move on.

The "off court" stuff with McCarty isn't new. It didn't start this week. Everyone at Evansville knew the risk. They decided to move forward anyway, looking for the "splash" that McCarty would provide. Then the administration also allowed McCarty to "recruit" and sign DeAndre Williams. A guy whose academic profile didn't at all fit at Evansville. No way does Marty get allowed to recruit him. McCarty also takes Sam Cunliffe. If you don't think taking a guy who has been to that many schools and has his history wasn't a risk, then I'm sorry.

Evansville rolled the dice. Maybe that is what had to be done. But no one should be surprised if it blows up.

Sorry this makes absolutely no sense. If you've got a problem with speculation and rumors, I'm not sure why you're on a forum to begin with. Sucks that you were stuck with a forum created by a guy who felt it necessary to take away all of UE fans voices because of how he felt about it. As if that would stop the rumors and speculation on social media anyways

In his statement before closing the board down he did not wish to be made libel for rumor, speculation or bravado that would inundated the board. I personally believe it was for his protection of his livilyhood.

A good moderator can keep that from happening. He swore off UE athletics for good. No need to blame everyone for the actions of a few. UE has done the right thing bringing in outside legal to investigate. Good job by the guys launching the new forum. Fans need a place to vent. Everything will work out in the end.
