I am well aware SIU hasn't been great. Jones also said this postgame:
"Use (the loss) as motivation," Jones said. "We're a really good team. We've shown that throughout the Valley season. It just comes down to sticking together and playing hard together. I feel if we do that this off-season, we'll be dominant (next year)."

Unless SIU is pushing him out for some reason, it doesn't sound like someone that's going to leave

Do you take seriously anything guys say in postgame press conferences?

With the new coach, no idea what the roster will look like. I'm hoping he brings a couple back. Reeves, obviously would be the main priority but keeping on Lewis, McChesney, Chatman, and Fleming could help with the transition. Ryan Pedon was lead recruiter on a lot of studs at OSU, so hopefully he can quickly develop connections with players and recruits to build his program.

I heard EJ Liddell went through Senior day. Maybe he's thinking of transferring to ISU.

I've jokingly mentioned that. Hahaha. His parents on former Redbirds and he's on record saying that he has the best relationship with Pedon....A guy can hope.

He just finished his introductory press conference and when he talked about recruiting, he mentioned a 200 mile radius from campus, specifically Chicago, STL, Indy and Milwaukee. Also said he's going to put a priority on post players because the system he plans to implement runs through the post. Two things that have been missing the last decade- Local kids and post play.

From some people who would know in STL. It isn't a done deal. But I would say Lance Jones in particular is growing a bit tired of playing in one of the slowest paced offenses in college basketball and then also being a bottom division MVC team while doing it.

Jones has enough trouble keeping his turnovers under control in a slower-tempo offense; would hate to see what they'd look like playing more helter-skelter.

Assuming Jones stays, Southern will try to bring in a transfer PG and move him more off the ball, as having the ball in Jones' hands so much these past few years has made it evident that he would be better suited to focusing on scoring/ball-hawking on defense rather than running the show. He's just not much of a creator for others and his decision-making at times does not lend itself to championship-level basketball.

As for Domask, he finished the year strong ... if he'd have played the way he did the last few weeks the whole way through, he likely would have been a First-Teamer.

I do expect both Domask and Jones to stay, but obviously you never know in this era. Mullins deserves some critiquing for the lukewarm results and sluggish offense, but one thing he has done is build a healthy culture with good kids who appear to be bought in. Now it's time to bring in some more scoring punch and retool the offense for what will (hopefully) be Domask and Jones' senior seasons in Carbondale.

Not saying Jones & Domask won't leave for sure but I'd expect both back. Now if this season goes the same as last season, I fully expect both to weigh their options for their 5th year. This is really a sink or swim year for SIU.

Good stuff.

It is great for the league when SIU is good. Really great for the league.

I agree SIU needs a PG in the worst way. Bradley does too. Jones and Roberts are both really wild with the ball and kind of similar players. I was disappointed in Mulia. He didn't do much. Is he still hurt?

@tribe, I had the same thought re: Jones and Roberts having some similar traits. SIU actually recruited Roberts so they could've ended up with both of them: double the excitement, double the turnovers!

Re: Muila, while he missed all of last year with an injury, he appeared to be healthy throughout this season, or as healthy as he's going to be. He was a plus on defense and a (big) minus offensively. He'd be best-served to be a 10-12 minute energy defender off the bench, which is actually how he was used at the very end of the season. The question is can Scottie Ebube (promising 6-10 kid who redshirted this year but already has a formidable D-I body) make enough progress to be the starting 5 next season.

This reminds me of a poster on Saluki Insider. He posted back in the Fall that star running back Javon Williams was going to transfer to a Power 5 school because he was unhappy with the offense and lack of touches. Last time I checked he was still listed on the roster, and is hitting it hard in the weight room and classroom. Some people like to stir $π!+ up just for kicks. Domask and Jones ARE NOT going anywhere. Question Tribe: Does Elijah Child's have any eligibility left? Peace.

Elijah Childs is a professional basketball player now after winning two straight MVC Tournaments.
