What are you wearing, “Antonio from State Farm!?” Uhhhhh…. A track suit?

Not sure the validity of Mosley’s NIL offer but for anyone that doubts their ability to play NIL ball with the big boys just remember the name on their arena.

Actually we don't really have a name for the arena as with Hammon's estate and financial obligations still in litigation, we are seeking a new naming rights partner. The validity of Mosley's offer though is solid . I doubt we have any more NIL eligible businesses/boosters than any other Valley school might have, and I have no idea how aggressively other MVC communities are organizing towards that goal, but I know it's real in Springfield because I've been contacted about it. Again, doesn't mean Isiaih stays, just means Springfield is at least recognizing the need to be active in using this tool.

Long-time lurker, (maybe) first time poster. Had to come out of hiding to ask this question, and it may be a dumb one so talk to me like I'm five if you need to:
The way the article is written, it makes it sound like a bunch of folks pooled together their money and are offering Mosley a one-time payment. Am I getting that right?
I thought NIL was like "hey, you can make a deal with a business" and not just "here's money from a bunch of people, enjoy cashing the check" - was I way wrong?

I mean I think in theory it can be whatever you want as long as its some sort of a business contract and both sides agree. Mosley would be obligated to provide something in return, but it could be something as simple as "I'll give you $100,000 if tweet out that you really like the food at (insert random local restaurant."

It's probably more complicated than that, but I was always under the impression there is a lot of leeway with how these things can be worked out.

Yeah, I don't know all the rules, but basically remember it's different than the old fake job routine P-5 's have done for years with prospects and their families. Primarily it's about businesses paying a fee to a player for using that player's name, image or likeness to promote their business or a product. Certainly businesses in a community can pool together if they so wish , and I don't think currently there is a limit on how lucrative that "fee" can be. It's basically making available to college athletes the type of promotional endorsement dollars that pro athletes have garnered for decades. I'm sure there were many before , but growing up, the two examples that I can most remember were Joe DiMaggio and Mr Coffee, and the top American Olympic hero often being the face on the Wheaties cereal box. Commercials, billboards, tweets , wearing advertising apparel, etc. are some examples.

That's why Tribe correctly noted that most collegiate players wouldn't have as great an opportunity elsewhere other than where they've been playing, because their name isn't known or carries impact elsewhere. An Isiaih Mosely t-shirt autograph day at a car dealership in Stillwater probably wouldn't draw many kids[ and parents] as opposed to one in Springfield.

It doesn't even have to be that much. There are some athletes at UNI that have signed deals that simply say 'we reserve the right to ask the athlete to participate in marketing at a future date of our choosing' with absolutely no intention of using them.

It's just a way to bring the payments that were already happening out into the semi-open.

The thing is the boosters don’t care about how much the actual player advertising works out. Many will simply pay thousands of dollars strictly to land that player, then use them for advertising purposes to keep within whatever the NCAA standards dictate. Mosley still has a high chance of get poached if money plays a large role in his decision. However, I think MSU fans are taking the right approach to minimize that from happening,

He is worth more from an NIL standpoint in Springfield, MO than anywhere else he would go.

Rumor I heard was that Mosley will be partnering with several local companies and receiving a monthly payment nearing six figures, annually. No one time payments.

Mosley named first team Mid Major All American in ESPN poll/article. Valley had 3 others mentioned as KJ Williams of Murray St made 2nd team, and Tevin Brown also of Murray St made 3rd team. AJ Green was an honorable mention . Murray St is also the current #1 in their MM top 10 poll. I think A-10's Loyola was 6th or 7th.
