6 and 6 and getting blown out by P5 schools does nothing for a teams confidence. Schedule multiple mid majors that are picked to win their league, with maybe one of two P5's. A strong MTE is great, but not always easy to get for mid majors. All I'm saying is be careful what you wish for.

Right, so at the end of the non-con you are in exactly the same place you were as if you'd played a shitty one.

Being consistently successful opens MTE doors. The only place to look for blame is inward if you're not getting invited to decent ones. You're either not successful or not trying.

SIU played one of the worst non-conference schedules in the country last year and still came out of it with losses to Little Rock & Tulsa and could have easily lost to Alcorn State. Those losses do nothing to prepare you for the Valley.

Ah yes, winning on a consistent basis does help. Case in point, the SIU run of the early 2000's. Six straight NCAA TOURNAMENT APPEARNCES and TWO SWEET SIXTEENS. The only other MVC team to come close to that run is the Shockers. Not UNI, Drake, Loyola or anybody else. With that sustained success came multiple solid MTE's for SIU including the Old Spice Classic in Orlando. The Dawgs beat VT, Minnesota, and lost a questionable close game to Arkansas. Coach Mullins is working towards getting us back there. I hope he does, to prove the naysayers wrong. Trying doesn't even come close to his work ethic.

Mullins is working towards getting SIU back to six straight NCAA appearances? He hasn’t come close to even making the tournament. It’s unlikely SIU will ever do anything remotely close to that again.

Until last year they hadn't been to the sweet sixteen since 1974. Great Arch Madness battles with the Saluikis back in the early part of the century though.

Ah thanks. Wasn’t sure if they were measuring BOTH S16 and NCAA apps or just S16 apps.

Why in God's name are you still lurking, let alone posting on a MVC Sports forum?
How many years did it take Moser as a HC to make ANY post season? Please include ARLR, and ISU. BM just finished year 3 as a D1 HC.
Good luck in your shiny new conference. I'm sure your boy Valentine will have the blers in the big dance sooner than BM, and then he'll bolt for a P5 job.
Please take your ugly scarf, and cracker box gymnasium and go away.

porter Mosers average conference finish for his career is slightly lower than 6th place. He had a good four year run. Maybe he was a slow learner, or maybe he just hit a lucky streak. He doesn't have to worry about NCAA appearances anymore though, because a 6th place finish will guarantee his team gets in.
