One play at the end of the game should have zero effect. Who wins the damn thing should have zero effect. Mallett is one of the best players in the league and was the best player that weekend.

Hell, my buddy and I were discussing this during the 2nd half and though Carter was more deserving of being ISUs MVP than Odum. We also agreed that Mallett was MSUs followed by Leonard. Throw whatever stats you want out there, that was just our observation from watching the games.

This.

Not sure where jlandrus was getting his thoughts but they were a little out there.

One play does not define a player or a weekend. Mallet was a beast all weekend long. So he lost a ball out of bounds. Big deal. Could it have costs us a Dancing ticket? Sure but he may or may not have scored and we still may or may not have won.

And wasn't that the same guy that hit two HUGE threes in the preceeding possession to just get his team with any chance to win? If you were at the game, ISU was swarming that last possession and we were struggling to even get shot away, which got rushed. Mallett lost the ball with 2 seconds to go. It was not Mallett, it was the ISU D, give credit where it is due.

That one play cost you a tourney berth by one guy being selfish and wanting to be a hero. Not everyone can be a hero. I don't know about you guys but that shot would have possibly won you the game but that TO cost you and that same guy win the MOP. That just doesn't make any sense.

How the heck do you know if he was being selfish? Did you talk to him after the game and he tell you that? Were you with the team during the timeout to know what play was called? Who do you think ISUb expected to get the ball? Weems and Leonard. But if Mallet were to get the ball, it was him being selfish. Got it. Makes perfect sense.

One play does not decide the game. Yes, it was at a crucial time. But if we don't start the 2nd half 0-13 shooting, we probably win the game that way.

Regardless of his last play, Mallet still had the best weekend of anyone. To me there is a difference between an MOP award and MVP award. Mallet was the MOP. You could argue that Odum was the MVP.

It's pretty obvious when the guy gets the ball and the first thing he did was look to score, that is being selfish. And there was still 3-4 seconds on the clock, which can get you a pretty decent shot if you look for an open teammate which there had to be one when he was surrounded by 2 ISU players.

So if that was the played called and the team goes and runs it, Mallet is being selfish. Makes sense.

IF I were ISUb there were 2 guys I didn't want to have the ball at the end of the game. Leonard and Mallet. Mallet almost single handedly put MSU in position to win that game. And he is far from a selfish player. And the way things were going, if I were Martin, I was looking to get Mallet the ball first, Leonard second at that point.

What's your point? That looking back on the game you want to be able to tell everyone that you would have gotten Leonard the ball instead of Mallet?

I'm sure everything Lansing has drawn up has worked to perfection.
