Just had a down year or two between losing our head coach to Iowa State and a sophomore PG to NBA. It was a perfect storm but don't count on that continuing. History says otherwise and our record vs MVC competition is solid the last decade. We are a good catch for the MVC and will do well.
How many times has Murray been in the Sweet Sixteen? Why has all of this excellence you speak of not translated into success in the Big Dance? Could it be because you play in a very weak conference, and your win/loss record is a reflection of such? How many times has Murray been to the Dance since Belmont joined the OVC? SIU is as bad as they have ever been and you have not even beaten them the last two years.
Prepare for a major dose of reality if you get in the MVC, even in it's current, emaciated state.

I caution you to see the difference between a one off non-con game versus the grind of a double round robin.
I have no doubt that Murray State would be a good add and be successful but there is a learning curve when you make a step up in level.
