Yet they lead to the same results.

So I ask you, other than charisma what is the difference?

I keep trying to remember something that Barry won. A banner, or a title, or an NCAA bid, or something. I must just be getting old.

Face it: most of you LOVED Barry because (a) he made you giggle in his pressers, and (b) MSU was absolutely no threat to accomplish anything of note while he was there. If you like him so much, hire him. You'd think that if he were so wronged, and he were such a good coach, he'd be doing more for the past few years than getting Bill Self's coffee. But I guess you're right, and the rest of the basketball world is wrong.

You can say that 100 times if you'd like. It won't make it magically come true.

So far we have two things listed for Cuonzo that Barry didn't do

1. Have charisma
2. Win the MVC in the worst/most down season in probably 15 years.

So charisma and having the least crappy team in the regular season in a very crappy MVC season.

This years MSU team would have been 5th or 6th in most of the years Barry coached.

I still see no real difference between the two.

Missouri State doesn't need to pay a million a year, but they better pay enough to make a coach feel comfortable staying. And when you only pay in the 20%-30% range of your league, expecting a coach to always win makes him look for the next train out. When Missouri State started flashing $600,000, Cuonzo knew that was all the better it would ever get. And he also knew how fast the fans could turn.

But like you said, if you guys are happy with the three or four years and out, have at it. Some of your coaches through the revoving door will be utter flops.

I don't agree with saying he would have maxed out at 600K. That is a pretty good raise in my standards for winning a subpar regular season Valley title and being in his 3rd year. If he were to stay and his recruits were to become pretty good, I'm sure one long run in the NCAA tourney would have been enough to bump up his pay to around a mill.

Why is Barry Henson still being talked about? MSU fans have forgotten him, let him hold a clip board at Kansas. That might be a difference in the 2 coaches. One is on the top of his game and coaching at a pretty solid SEC school (when probation clears) and the other has been out of coaching for 3 years.

Barry's teams were superior Cuonzo's teams, and he coached in a far, far superior MVC. Both earned an equal number of tournament bids.

Its probably true.

Just think, Barry's best teams that finished in the upper half of the MVC narrowly missed making the NCAA tournament.

Martin's MVC championship team basically finished in the same position as those teams. Actually, you could argue that Barry's teams were closer to an at-large...

First post here, but I just wanted to chime in...

Those of you who have compared Barry and Zo are dead on. As a lifetime Bears fan, who was around during Barry's tenure, I know exactly what you're saying.

I liked Zo, and wish he wouldn't have left, but he was no better than Barry. He's a hot coaching name because of his playing background, and recruiting success at Purdue.

Nearly everyone of Barry's teams were better than our team this year, and that's a fact. Plus, Zo never showed that he could bring in a good freshman class and keep them around. Btw, thank you Barry for recruitng Weems. And good job Zo developing him.
