Official MVCfans 2011-12 prediction - 3rd place

ISU fans have the right to beat their chest. Like it or not, you are judged in college basketball in March. And in March, ISU was the only team in the MVC playing in a tournament that anyone gave a rats a$$ about. Somebody tried to bring up games in the non-conference??? Really?? The non-conference??? Does anyone care about games in November?? At the time people do care but looking back almost 12 months later, who gives a crap. Should anyone be saying crap to Butler, yeah you went to the Championship game but you lost to UE in the non-conference???? Sounds kinda stupid, doesn't it. Other posters brought up getting beat in the first rd. Again, is there any team in the MVC that would have rather not made the tournament? Well, if we are going to lose in the 1st rd then we just don't want to go to the Tournament??? Sounds kinda stupid, doesn't it?

People talk about getting hot one weekend. Folks, that one weekend is when the real season starts. I guess we could say the same about Bradley's S16 run...they just got hot for one weekend.

If I were ISU fans I would just say that all these posters that are slamming my team are flat out jealous that their team was not the one playing in the NCAA Tournament.

With all that said, I picked the Trees for a 3rd place finish.

Spoken like a true fan from a program that is NEVER EVER going to be considered for an at large and EXACTLY the reason a program like Evansville should have never been invited to join the Valley. Some of us have higher aspirations. You would just love for WSU and CU (and others) to think like you do and make it all about 3 days in March so everything could be all goody goody fair gumdrops and even steven.

And yes, games in November do matter. Tell the selection committee that non-conference games and games played in November don't matter.

Not surprised in the least that a fellow Sycamore Invitational member came to their aide in this one.

They don't matter if you win the conference tournament like ISU did. And that is what we are talking about. We are not talking about a team that didn't get in cause of a game they lost in November.

It is funny mid majors want respect from BCS schools. Yet mid majors slam schools such as UNC Asheville. The hypocrisy is over the top.

Well, nonconference games certainly matter for seeding in the NCAA tournament. A team has a much better chance of making a nice run if they get a 4 seed like SIU got in 2007 rather than a 12 seed...

Now you've just absolutely lost me. The whole dispute with Indiana State fans and everyone else is that they think that they are better than what everyone else thinks. They base that on a very few things, primarily winning in St. Louis last year. With that, they think Jake Odum, a very good player, is hands down, the best in the Valley. Once again, many others disagree.

This whole dispute can be attributed to their success last year. Since then, when others have disagreed with Sycamores, they have gone on the offensive and made some really ridiculous posts. With those posts, many piled on. Sycamores have made the mistake of attributing any rebuttals to jealousy and hatred, it's the furthest thing from the truth. For whatever reason, you have chosen to defend them, but for the life of me, I can no longer follow any of your logic.

For a little perspective, look over at the football forum. Here is a thread that sums up just exactly how Sycamore fans are creating these problems all on their own.

When the point of the thread is to predict the REGULAR SEASON standings, I'd say that using the entire body of work from last year is much more useful than just going by 3 neutral site tournament games. That being said, should ISU be proud of winning the tournament, hell yeah they should. But damn, this "Napoleon" complex is getting old. Picking WSU and CU ahead of them isn't a sign of disrespect, it's an opinion. Either way, I'd suggest that if someone gets their panties in a bunch over a message board preseason poll, they really need to calm down and get a little perspective on things. On a side note, it is quite an impressive showing by the ISU fans to actually get CU and WSU fans agreeing this much......congrats!!!!

Ok, I acknowledge that Indiana St had a good ending to the season last year, but that is it. Your team jelled together at the right time and in doing so surprised a lot of teams in the Valley. The big question now is whether you can sustain it. Drake thought they were on top for good a couple years ago and now look at them. I got bored at work so I put together this very elementary excel sheet to demonstrate why Indiana St has not yet garnered the respect from the top echelon teams in the league.



This isn't a tell all but from this Indiana St the last 11 years has been the 9th best team in the league, or in other words, 2nd worst! Since the Sycs have been down so long it's going to take more than a couple games in March to persuade us that you are on top to stay.. Good Luck this year Trees, but you won't be treated like a 9th place team this year so hopefully you can keep up.
