I don't mind UNI keeping the dream alive as long as they recognize it's a miracle scenario they need.

Took a closer look at InSU. It feels like getting a marquee BB game, and then winning it, is going to be very important. And they have a schedule that sets up relatively well, one in which they really oughta plan to go 5-1 over the next 6 in (BU, @SIU, MSU, UE, @isu, UNI). Unfortunately there's no needle-moving wins available in there so they need to be patient as the national prognosticators will mostly ignore them the next 3 weeks. Are they road or home in BB?

I'm pretty sure they are a home team, which means two things-They don't get the benefit of the extra boost a road win would give and there aren't really any good road teams outside of the Valley.

As for UNI, their long shot is to not lose to anybody other than WSU, CU, or InSU the rest of the way, and they still would probably have to get 1 or 2 of those to finish 14-4. I give it about a 1/10,000 chance. Anything else and there is no shot.

I actually think many people get the approach wrong here. If you're targeting 14-4 for example, I would want to be 4-2 against the top 3, and if my other two losses are @BU and @MSU, who cares. Signature wins are how you rally back from the fringe of the bubble, not a pocket collection of decent wins.

EDIT: See below, apparently I'm predicting the 2012 bracketbuster.

Road BB teams in the MVC:
Drake
Indiana State
Northern Iowa
Southern Illinois
Wichita State
(all other teams are home)

The only non-MVC BracketBuster teams in the current RPI top 60 are:
#44 Murray State (Home)
#46 N. Dakota State (Home)
#49 Louisiana Tech (Home)
#50 Northwestern St. (Road)
#58 Stephen F. Austin (Home)
#60 Western Michigan (Road)

These teams are mostly in such weak conferences that they will probably not stay at the top of the RPI.

Regardless, CU is likely to host either Northwestern St. or Western Michigan.
Meanwhile, WSU or Indiana State will likely go to Murray State.

Still a couple of weeks from the matchups being released, and there's time for any of these teams to lose a couple. And there's always a couple of cases of "WTF" when ESPN announces the games...

I have the sudden feeling that ESPN hasn't updated their site with this year's locations...

It will definitely give them a chance to improve their overall record. At 8-5, that's not going to garner them much respect as a Valley school, even with a generous RPI. Like the UNI miracle scenario of a while back, they cannot get to double-digit losses. That will eliminate them and any other mid-major at-large potential team.

Oh my God, Bracketbusters is going to set records for futility on its way out. This is going to be catastrophically awful.

Northwestern St and Stephen F Austin are from the horrible Southland - there's always a few teams who inflate their RPI by playing 4 non-D1 schools in the non-con, and they drop like a balloon in January. These 2 teams will not finish RPI Top 100, and are empty calories. And Western Michigan has their own problem, because the MAC West will automatically sink any team outside of the RPI Top 100 too.

I think Creighton/Murray St is pre-ordained. I have no idea what Wichita is going to get, let alone Indiana State. Where's Belmont in this thing?

I believe the shox are a home team this year.

Baller,

Its humerous to me that this continues to bother you so much. Casually discussing NCAA scenarios in the MVC bracketology thread=annoying "shtick"....gotchya...
