I have to agree, the goaltending call at the end of the game was absolutely bogus - looked like a nice block by Orupke, and not to mention what appeared to be a easy charging call on the SIU player.

Another in a string of bad losses for the Missouri Valley Conference, post-season wise. This loss (like CU's bad loss to Drake), will come back to haunt the Shockers seed wise in March. Just like CU last year and their three game losing streak, my money is on the Shockers to regroup, but this loss will be one that everyone looks back on and says was why WSU was dealt an 8 or 9 seed, instead of a higher seed.

Tomorrow night's game between the Jays and Sycamores just got even bigger after tonight's upset.

I couldn't see from Cox's TV angle, but the play-by-play guy said the light didn't go off.

Yeah, but the buzzer did. A ref can't watch for the light and watch a player, they have to watch the player and listen for the buzzer (similar to baseball as the ump watches the bag and listens for the catch). The light not going off was probably why they let it go, but even the WSU announcers said that they got away with one.

Also, there was no way there was a charge at the end as the WSU player was back-pedaling. If anything, a block should have been called before the shot.

From my seat it looked like it was goaltending but I admittedly was not seated at the best spot to make that call. Regardless, SIU just wanted it more tonight. I think what's being lost here is not how the game ended, but the fact that Wichita went 11 minutes without a field goal, they just flat out choked tonight.

The light may not have, but the buzzer did. It should have been a shot clock violation.
