I know I say this over and over but I have a pretty good insight on the situation. SLU will stay in a watered down A10 over the MVC.

There are 2 likely scenarios if SLU were to join the MVC.

1. Only way it happens is if heads roll across the board in the administration and entirely new group comes in with less east coast aspirations. I am speaking from the President, Board of Trustees through athletic director. All will need replaced for current aspirations to change.

2. If the current administration makes this decision, all of their heads will roll anyways. The casual SLU fan might like the MVC. The alums with money that support the program want nothing to do with it. If the Billikens end up in the MVC, their money dries up and we wouldn't want them anyways. If the domino's fall to where SLU ends up with us, we are just a stepping stone, they will not be here long.

I am a huge fan of the Valley for SIU. I am also a SLU alum, for the good of my alma mater, I do not want to see SLU in the MVC and this has zero to do with sports.

go with 12 teams.. I think mvc fans would end up loving the additions of Valpo, Murray State, & either ORU or Detroit Mercy. I do see the appeal of double round robin, but with the loss of creighton..would adding just one team mk the rest of the conference feel stale. I went to uni and it seemed the only games that would sell out were cu and wsu. Lived in dsm Drake was the same..

Play 18 gm schedule.. dbl round robin per division (10gms) and playing other division (6gms) & having 2teams from other division playing home away (18 total gms) so every year you won't see 2teams at home but oh well

east
Valpo Eville Indiana St Murray St So Illinois Bradley
west
UNI Drake Oral Roberts WSU Missouri St Illinois St

ORU gets around 4500 in attendance 50% full in 8000capacity.. 5 yrs ago 6000
Murray St is getting around 6500.. 8500 sell out
Valpo 3200 Detroit 2000 Belmont 2100 Milwaukee 4200 Denver 5200

If this league stays together, Bradley and ISUr will want to be in the same division if there are to be 2 divisions. Money dictates they will want home and home in the same season.

well you could make one of the home home non division games semi rivalry games

ISU vs Bradley
WSU vs MURRAY ST
UNI vs Valpo
Drake vs Evansville
Mo St vs So Illinois
ORU vs Indiana St

You could maybe switch ISU with Murray St keeping all 3 Illinois and Indiana schools together. Evansville and Indiana St would probly love Murra in their division. That's why I chose ISU, but maybe southern ill for ISU?

can someone logically tell me why Valpo, Murray St., ORU or Detroit Mercy would WANT to join the MVC without Creighton?

I would guess it would be a step up from their current conference?

Because WSU is in it! At least for the time being.

Even w/o Creighton, MVC is still a top 10 conference I would think. The leagues the other teams play in aren't even close to that.
