Superior athletes......from the inability to finish at the rim because of a shot blocker altering the shot or the threat of it. Hands in passing lanes making the floor seem to shrink at times. DJ started to press and force early, a lot of missed FTs, outrebounded, etc.
Indiana played well, defended well and is a top 25 team this week and has the potential to stay there and not a great matchup for the Aces. It's a young bunch that faced a team with not only those superior athletes but superior talent as well and that size, strength, and talent was a wake up call early because it was tougher than it had been all season.
At the end of the day, it's a young team that through the previous five games had put up offensive numbers that just simply aren't going to stay at those levels as the season goes forward. At the same time, they won't face the opposition defensively too often like they did tonight and should convert on some of those missed layups that seemed to be a theme all night.
My feeling is that the Aces will night in and night out be somewhere in between the rest of the way, not as bad as they looked tonight against the toughest non-conference opponent but probably not as proficient as they've been the first 5 games either. A little disappointed but it's one game and if this is all you've seen it's not a great impression and Ohio awaits on Saturday, regroup, grow and learn from this because it's another tough matchup on the road.
Nice win by the Shockers tonight over BYU.
