Drake has to become a team for the City and not rely on the alumni to fill the seats. There are numerous KU and KState alumni that are season ticket holders for WSU. They've adopted WSU as their hometown team.

It really isn't that surprising that a lot of these grads show up for the Drake game and to a lesser extent the Big 4 classic since it's more convenient than the trip up to Cedar Falls. 2 hrs isn't awful but 15 minutes is much better.

And Drake has less alumns and fans living in the city the school is located in?

Almost assuredly. Not even taking into account the size difference in schools, almost every friend from my recent graduating class lives in Minneapolis or Chicago (where they're originally from).

Probably. Not a lot of Drake grads are from the area and many go to larger metro areas or return home. Obviously some stick around but even then their presence in this city is much less noticeable than that of the 3 regents schools.
[Insert snappy comeback]
