Jacobson's officially not considered Marshall's peer, then. He's judged on "little engine that could" criteria the same way Moser or Lusk would be.

Every argument for Jacobson begins and ends with "he did a shitty job last year, so he looks better in comparison this year."

HCGM could have won and no one one would have bitched. But if you're going to discredit the job Jacobson did this year that's unfortunate.

People would have bitched. Maybe YOU wouldn't have. But you know for a fact people would have bitched....

What a strange conclusion to draw.

He goes 27-3, wins COY, and somehow thats an indictment?

HCGM could have won and no one one would have bitched.

That's because he rightfully deserved the award.

Boom.

Jacobson led a UNI team that was without a single vote in the preseason poll into the AP Top 10.

Whatever you think must be true. And the people that voted have clearly have no idea and are biased against you right? Seems like the Wichita way of thinking.

Marshall may be hurt by the expectations of this years WSU team. I won't argue that

One coach had a top 10 (I think WSU was top 10 preseason) preseason team and guided them to a conference title and a 27-3 record. That team was led by 2 preseason all American's.

One coach took his team from nowhere close to receiving votes to a top 10 national ranking, a record well beyond what anyone (even the biggest homers) rationally expected, and developed a post player from a nice MVC big to the conference POY and national player of the year candidate.

There is an extremely strong case for both based 100% on this year.

To say that Jake in no way deserves the award is pretty silly.

I didn't get a vote so my opinion means nothing but....

I expected WSU to run the table in the valley or have no more than one loss and be top 10-15 this year. They hit the mark and were fantastic again.

But, I expected a handful of conf losses and maybe borderline top 30 out of UNI. As tough as it is to penalize WSU for a great season, based on MY expectations, UNI outperformed WSU.

I can see why Loyola or ISUb people might make a comparison between their coaches like I did for Jake but 3rd or 6th in the conf is no comparison to taking a team with no preseason votes to top 10-15.

Again, just my opinion, which my wife constantly tells me doesn't matter.

I hate to "punish" Porter Moser for Doyle's injury but I have a feeling had he been healthy all year and Loyola pulled the 3 or 4 seed he would have been COY.
