I'm not going to be happy if the Birds end up playing Valpo in the Jam. Potentially four games for the Birds and the Crusaders.

I would be happy if we played Valparaiso after defeating Cincinnati and Western Kentucky!

Yeah well I think it's a lot more likely Valpo and ISU meet in the loser's bracket, and it could be a Thursday preview nobody asked for. How did 2 Valley teams wind up with the same tournament? And it's not that great of a tournament, with no P5 teams. ISU got lucky and drew Cincinnati in the first round which is clearly the cream of the crop. Maybe Elgin needs to keep a whiteboard in his office of tournament commitments because apparently our ADs aren't talking.

It was announced yesterday Drake will be in the Gulf Coast Showcase with Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (MAC), Northeastern Huskies (CAA), South Alabama Jaguars (Sun Belt), Weber State Wildcats (Big Sky), Wright State Raiders (Horizon), 2 TBA. Not too great either, hopefully they draw Wright and Northeastern.

I think that leaves only SIU looking for a tournament. With them clearly in rebuilding mode maybe they'll just sit this year out?

They got a waiver to be in the same tournament because they both committed to it while Valpo was in the Horizon League.

An event can't be an MTE if it invites two teams from the same league.

They should have gotten out of it. Or, one gets out of it and they agree to split the costs. Loyola paid to back out of the Bahamas last year to upgrade to Ft Myers.

It is unlikely that Illinois St and Valpo will meet in the Paradise Jam but the coaches should prepare ahead of time just in case. Maybe the coaches should establish some guidelines now for how the game should be approached and executed should it ever happen.

Obviously the roster changes are numerous with many younger fresh faces. Maybe they could agree on restricting minutes for veterans and largely let the unknowns decide the outcome?

Thoughts?

That rule has been changed.

They would play it like they would any other game.

Yeah... super confused why they would ever think to play the game differently. Absurd thought.

Just saw on Twitter that Indiana State will not be playing at Clemson after all, we're working on another ACC opponent for a buy game.

Golden also tweeted INS will be playing North Dakota State in Basketball next year, unsure if it's home or away.
