UT Martin just got one of their transfers eligible (Craig Randal) so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't sneak one or two more wins this season.

For some reason, I thought this was the MVC board.

Any chance the OVC is a two bid league this year? Murray State and Belmont both enter the OVC tournament with 25-4 records. I feel like the chances are small, but both have been listed on the bubble watch list.

I actually think Jacksonville State could end up winning the OVC though. They are 3-0 against Murray State and Belmont this season. They just seem to be a team that plays at whatever level their competition plays at, which is why they lost to UTM and went to 2OT with EIU.

Zero. If Loyola wouldn't have gotten in last year with better metrics from a better league without winning in St Louis what makes you think Belmont or Murray State even have a prayer?

Murray and Belmont highly ranked (relatively speaking) in NET. Those two games they played against each other sure helped each other's profile. I mean, quality games are scarce so you have to treasure each one.

Wait, what?

They only played once?

Good God, someone needs to run a deep ops mission and extract Murray St out of that god-forsaken conference.

Murray St has no shot. They built their non-con schedule around two roadies at SEC schools (lost both) and 3 MVC schools (and we know how the Valley did this year). In a way, we cost them a chance at an at-large bid.

Belmont has a fighting chance, because we live in a world where Lipscomb is a Q1 win.

Average NET rating of teams that Murray State played twice in conference this season: 280
Average NET rating of teams that Murray State played once in conference this season: 170 (skewed down heavily by Tennessee Tech at 333)

The top four teams in the OVC were on par with teams from the MVC this year.
45 Belmont
52 Murray State
133 Austin Peay
134 Jacksonville St

Belmont and Murray State would have highest NET in the MVC. APSU and JSU would both be 3rd.

The rest of the OVC is a train wreck. The no.5 team in the OVC would be 55 spots lower than the lowest team in the MVC.

This conference drives me crazy.

Think about it. You all know how hard it is to win on the road in conference. It just isn't easy. But, that is a pretty good top four teams. But if a team loses on the road to any of them, that gets marked up as a loss "against a weak conference". There is no margin of error.

Pod schedules would be very effective in a year like this one, but the OVC has no vision, and even if they did, it wouldn't help as much most years.

I haven't usually watched the OVC tournament apart from the championship, so I hadn't realized how heavily their tournament rewards seeding. Kinda interesting that the top two seeds have two bye days. If they win their first game they're in the championship.

As it should be. If they're not going to send their regular season champion to the tourney, need to setup to favor them so that their best team goes.
