We're so thin on the bench now and our margin for error is small each night, but moving forward we will be a long athletic team that looks to be disruptive on defense nightly in the coming years. We have guys like Josh Hall [6'7 guard transfer from Nevada] a pair of 6'3 and 6'5 HS guards from Columbia Rock Bridge, a 6'6 uber athletic forward from home town Springfield all coming in , along with 6'9 Gaige Primm the #5 ranked juco and also transfer pg Tyrik Dixon[ Middle Tenn, St/ kinda of a misfit at only 6'1, but tough and experienced]. We lose good players in J.Dixon/Webster/Kreklow, but that's all.

A stunner for us last night was the play of 6'11 rs freshman Darrian Scott who has barely played to date but came in last night and really made things tough defensively inside on Krutwig and Loyola in general in his minutes.

Adding Scott to the rotation should help our thin bench. It was good to see him log some quality minutes. I know our 3 point percentage won't keep up, but if the D does, then the outlook for this season just ticked up a bit. Here's to hoping we stay out of the PIG.

An eye opener, now MSU fans know it can be done. Team too.

Illinois St. Losing didn't surprise me,I didn't pick them in our Purple Code forum.
I do believe they were hung over. When I saw them in the pre game at Evansville I
said we're beat. They had that look that they WERE NOT GOING TO LOSE TONIGHT.

Tough for any team to win without their top 3 scorers. Smits, Fazekas, and Golder can't come back soon enough. The next few games are going to be rough.

Drake’s NWI trio played outstanding. 43/23 collectively. Filled the void for the Bulldogs as Thomas went scoreless and McGlynn was neutralized by backup Sorolla.

Injuries notwithstanding, Valpo’s biggest problem is the same one from non-conference. One player shooting 20-30% and leading the team in shots taken.

Thought the turnout was real good despite the sudden snowstorm (doubled my commute 1->2 hrs). Lots of Drake fans in my section.

How long are they out and what happened to each?

Fazekas rolled his ankle around 2-3 weeks ago, and has missed the last 5 games (2-3 during that stretch).

Smits is an unknown, as Lottich mentioned that he didn't know until just before the game was to start, that he would be unavailable.

Golder rolled his ankle around 4-5 minutes into the Drake game, and came back out in the same crutches/walking boot combo that Fazekas did after his injury.

I am guessing that Fazekas is day-to-day, Golder will be back in 2-3 weeks, and Smits will come back in 1-2 games.
