It looks like the long knives are out for Lansing in Terre Haute. Even their beat writer seems to intimate that Lansing should go.

I was quite surprised at ISUb’s immediate capitulation yesterday. They have budget issues, to be sure, but maybe they need to look for a change of direction...that was a complete no-show last night...

Saw Lansings comments in the paper after the game and you at least have to give him credit for taking the blame on the loss, and saying that he didn't have his guys ready to play, and that falls on him. He's been an decent coach, but appears he is being passed by other's at this point.

The problem though is that his post game comments have been basically the same for the past 4 years now. The "it's on me" phrase has been said too many times to count.

Our attendance has also suffered. During the Odum years our bad crowds would be around 5000. Now that would be a great crowd. We're lucky to get 2000 fans into the Hulman Center. Heck you can buy an $8 upper bowl ticket and sit in the second row (I've done it many times). I've also noticed quite a few people that walk down the steps in the lower bowl scouting for a seat to sit in, so I know I'm not the only one.

Not saying he should get fired, but I understand why Sycamore fans are getting frustrated. We always seem to do well in the non-conference, and as soon as MVC play starts we forget how to play. Most call it the "February collapse", but it happened early this year.

Programs that turn stale will inevitably result in a lack of fan interest. Ind. State is at that point, same as where Evansville was. Changing coaches doesn't fix much sometimes but it makes the critical voices a little more inclined to accept the "Well, we had to try SOME-thing."

If Lansing's recruiting has dried up, then the problem might be somewhere else. He's not a terrible coach.

Valpo fans really aren't sure what to do with\make of Lottich right now but rest assured we're not happy right now that what looked like a contender now looks like a Thursday team.

I would say the same thing about Indiana State this year as I said about Evansville with Marty. Changing coaches alone will not fix anything. Neither coach was/is getting a lot of support, but Lansing has been able to pull off some success in spite of this. He has several wins again P5 programs, and meaningful post-season berths. Simmons had neither.

Things are brighter here for many things that have happened besides throwing Marty out the door, and those things were absolutely necessary if we are to find success again. Lansing has been more successful, which makes the question if he can get more support, can he turn things around more compelling. Whether Lansing stays or goes, ISU is going to have to pump more resources into the basketball program.

Fazekas maybe would have mattered in 2 of those losses, but every team has injuries.
Lottich is doing an acceptable job of recruiting, which is half the battle. Fan interest is high.
VU will be just fine.
