While the defense is getting the attention, it's actually a change in offensive strategy that is fueling the success. With injuries, defections, and just seeing where we were offensively, Ford pulled the plug on trying to play up-tempo. The result is we limit possessions, run out opportunities, and have more energy on the defensive end. It allows us to get by with basically 7-8 players most nights. We are holding our own on the boards despite starting 4 guards and a forward[ but our top 7 are all 6'4 -6'8] , but obviously can be beat down low at times. Our margin for error remains pretty thin , but he reduced it significantly with the changes. I imagine we will still be a bit up and down, but again, we are seeing what actual coaching looks like. Lusk didn't make a significant change in 7 years , not off season, preseason, mid season or mid game.
Agreed! It is nice to see a coach make some adjustments. I wish some of our coaches in other sports knew how to make adjustments as well... That aside, I would have liked to see them run a better play to close out regulation. At least Ford called a timeout to talk about it. That gives me confidence. Lusk would have just let the team scramble and see what they could find open on the fly... That rarely worked out for him. The only instances that I can think of is when Dequon Miller was a Junior, and he took the ball coast to coast against Oklahoma State, and UNI. Other than that, we lost so many games on the last possession during his tenure it made me sick. I am going to have to retrain my gut to not always expect the bad outcomes.

I ask this of an Evansville fan...do they have a strength and conditioning program at UE? The white dudes all have bodies like me...a mid 40's dad bod. I just chuckled seeing Kulhman, Frederking, etc.

ACES STRENGTH & CONDITIONING MISSION
The University of Evansville Strength and Conditioning department is committed to helping student athletes prevent injury while training to improve performance through a sport specific program. The strength staff works with each team to improve strength, speed, explosiveness, flexibility, mobility, and conditioning. We create a safe and positive weight room environment that challenges the athletes to work hard, be accountable, and improve both their physical and mental toughness. Every program is designed specifically for the student-athlete to ensure optimal results.
Dainius Chatkevicius & Shea Feehan don't have the 40 year old dad bod. The two you mentioned are sophomores and were until Marty's system until this year. I believe they could use some weight training, but i won't poke the bear
