Yeah, I can understand up 2 but try to let the clock run at least. Wanting to have the ball no worse than tied isn't bloody stupid but, fouling on purpose stopping the clock up 4 is exactly what Drake wants you to do. Probably the same up 2 but, the Birds haven't exactly been survivors in last second shot games this year.

I don't understand the logic up 2 and fouling on purpose. You are essentially giving them free throws to tie the game. Why? Because you're afraid of deja vu? You can't play or coach scared, even if you have been beaten 2x on half court shots.

We are tied for first right now if those two half court shots don't go in by the way.

Players take the mindset of the coach. Sounds like a fragile frame of mind from Muller that I am sure has been passed onto his team lately.

This season, it has become very obvious that Dan, on his own, isn't a great coach. The quality staff that he had before is gone, and the staff he has now isn't lighting the world on fire. I think Dan is just a poor coach. I know that is a simplified view of it, but the argument can be made that coaches like Dana Ford and Luke Yaklich, and high IQ players like Paris Lee and Tony Wills, masked Dan's coaching deficiencies. Because he was an ISU guy, hate to tear down Dan, but I think reality has really set in on him as a coach. He is starting to prove he is not the answer.

Hopefully I am wrong and they win in St. Louis, but I am not holding my breath on that one.

He didnt foul and got burned twice! Fouled and won. If he had fouled msu and valpo he may be COY and Mvc Champ. Get off Dans back. I could see thinking he shoukdve booted MY last season but obviously the kid is worth a roll of the dice. Another thing imo would be rushing kids back from injury. Changing closing the game strategy after it costing him 2 times is a sign of good coaching. Hes got enough guys sitting out this year to be confident about next year. If Evans and Copeland make shots this birds team is tough. My's turnovers/ attitude off the court issues should cost him accolades.

There isn't a universe where fouling someone, while up 2 at the end of the game, was a good call. It is insane bad luck you lost like that twice, but by giving your team a statistically worse chance of leaving with the win is so mind blowing. They were lucky they missed the free throws at the end of the game.

+1 I was cracking up when he fouled again up 4. Stop the clock and send them to the line with 12 seconds left!

I wouldn't foul either but if they make both FTs, you are tied with the last shot. If you don't foul and they make a three.........

This decision is coaching and playing scared to lose. That mentality in the long run is never going to work out.

You willingly play for a tie up 2 by fouling?? Never.
