Was going to leave work early to watch tomorrow's game if we were in the early game, but I don't know if I will bother now. It is getting tough to watch UNI in big games. The program just hasn't been the same since A&M. Post UNI a double-digit lead in the second half of a big game and the following things are pretty much guaranteed.
1-Our guards will forget how to dribble/pass/shoot.
2-The opposing team will become NBA caliber shooters.
3-We will make a big shot during the meltdown that will give us hope.
4-The refs will do something controversial.
That call reminded me of the flagrant in the MVC title game. The main difference being the Bradley call was probably technically correct.....just felt to me very much against the spirit of the game and perhaps warranted a closer look at how the rule is written. In this case, I cannot fathom what they saw in the replay that made them decide to make that call. The only people who thought that was a good call were the folks on the West Virginia message board (who also think our players were undercutting them on purpose and are coached to do that....they aren't an intelligent bunch).
Even in some of the games we've won, we've melted down. I can't keep watching the same thing happen over and over. There has to be a way to teach these guys how to maintain a lead.
