Good question. Right now is there a senior worthy of First Team All League consideration outside of Nate Kennell?

Right? And he's not even a lock at this point (though with the weight he's carrying with Childs out i think he's deserving). I went back and looked at the all freshman team from that 2017 (our current group of seniors) and this was the list...

Koch Bar
Darrell Brown
Jordan Barnes
Spencer Haldeman
Dru Smith (now playing great minutes at Mizzou)
Landry Shamet

Some nice top end talent for sure, but the depth/development across the board really wasn’t there…
The newcomer team meanwhile had some great players: Phil Fayne, Aundre Jackson, Alize Johnson, and Darral Willis Jr.

Brown is having a really awful year shooting the ball. Like historically bad. It's amazing Bradley is winning like they are. Koch Bar has progressed nicely. No, not an All League guy but probably an All League defensive guy and a starter on a good team.

NOTE: When talking all league stuff I only look at conference only stats. That's why, right now, Kennell would more than likely be on it.

Oh i'm with you on league stuff. I definitely weigh conference play significantly more.

I've also noticed Browns shootings been rough... is it bad selection or just not falling? Williamsons had a similar problem for LU this season. Nothings falling from 3.

Brown's release seems all messed up and totally out of balance. He's landing only on his right foot when he comes down and his elbow is way in front of his body. He's just a mechanical mess right now.

Kennell has raised his scoring from 11.5 points a game in the first 11 games of the year when Childs was not hurt to 15.5 points per game (last 7 games) since Child's first injured his hand in Georgia Southern game. He was top 10 in the country in 3 point percentage at one point last week. He currently is hitting 47% from deep after his 7-10 performance last night (he shot 40% from deep last year). The first 4 games after Childs went out, he went for 9, 9, 9, and 10 rebounds as well, and his defense has improved tremendously. With 5 more rebounds he will pass his season high for rebounds in a season, and he already has more steals this year than any of his previous 3 years.

Darrell has more name recognition in the Valley for sure, but honestly, Kennell is more deserving of 1st team All Valley from a Bradley fan's perspective.

Bradley finished the game 17 of 30 from 3 point land, set a record for the most 3's they've ever made in an MVC game.

It seems that it's a regular thing at the Q that teams come to Springfield and shoot lights out 3's against us. It's such a shame to be picked #1, twice in 3 years, and lay an egg both times.

Who would be the first team right now?

I have

Green
Freeman-Liberty
Krutwig
Key

After that I struggle to find the fifth player. I really don't like putting a player on their from a Thursday night team. Is it one of the Bradley 3? Is it Robbins? Berhow? Am I being unfair to a player like DeAndre Williams?

DeAndre Williams hasn't played the last three games.

It all depends on the final standings. If UNI runs away with it, it's Isaiah Brown or Berhow. If it's close, it's Kennell.

So - AJ Green - the Freshman of the Year, preseason first team all valley, has been very highly regarded by others since arriving on campus last year.

However according to a lot of the analytic numbers that I looked at, he was simply not very good last year. He appeared to me to be a high volume shooter who was not very efficient and at times I wondered if he hurt UNI more than he helped. These trends continued for a chunk of this year two. I mostly kept this to myself. I'n not sure if I trust some of the individual analytic stats in basketball as much as I do in, say, baseball. This is because its hard to quantify the team aspect. As someone who has watched UNI the last two years - at times it seemed to me that UNI lacked offensive players who could create a shot. AJ was the only one who could, so he often found himself creating tough shots at the end of shot clocks, and I think this contributed to his inefficiency.

Since about the Colorado game, however, he has totally flipped the script. Bart Tovik has a stat called PORPAG, which is an acronym for "Points Over Replacement Per Adjusted Game." As I understand it its basically an offensive WAR stat.

AJ is #30 in Tovik's PORPAG. If you sort it to include games from the last 30 days, he is #2.

Something I noticed and wanted to share. I would post on the panther board but they won't approve me.

Give the mods some time to approve you. They aren't as active of posters as they used to be and I'm sure they don't log in regularly just to see who needs approval. I very rarely see a new poster these days. Maybe once a month or so.

Through 5 conference games, Robbins is averaging 17.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 4.0 bpg. Those seem like 1st team all-conference numbers to me.
