I feel good about the game. I do think little McDermot will turn into a pretty good player. I will say that I was more impressed with Rayvonte Rice from Drake out of the freshmen I have seen. But McDermot will likely be a better all around player as he seems to possess the skills to do pretty much everything. He looked like a freshman going against a veteran squad tonight. I have a feeling I'm not gonna like seeing him around for 4 years. Echinique looked....ok...I guess. He did have some decent moves but our bigs (especially Durley) was really giving him fits. He should develop into a pretty tough player though. He's got a couple years left so I'll be interested to see how he develops. Lawson seems to struggle against us for some reason. And I am definately ok with that.

Anyway, good game jays. I do hope everyone made it home safely.

There I did it. I stayed as civil as I can. All bets are off once the drunk posters start posting

though....;)

Accurate and right on! Wragge will be back along with redshirt Artino. Mac has a great recruiting class coming in. Hoepfully the quality of the league will be on th rise. Not a told you so, but the results were predictable. WSU has too many hosses.

The bigs didn't do much, because the guards and wings did not get the ball into the post. Time after time, Lawson, Echinque and McDermott got their guy sealed in good position to get a pass, and the wings either didn't pass the ball in or hesitated allowing the defender to get repositioned, or giving the double team time to collapse. Coach has vowed that will change. Coach's biggest complaint after the game was the guards/wings failure to get the ball inside at the right time and place. When they did get it inside, both guys shot over 50%, and Echinique got to the line 11 times. Unfortunately, he picked a really bad night to go cold from the line. He has been a 70% FT shooter on the year, but made only 6-11, missing the front end of two or three one and ones and missing I believe 4 in a row during one stretch. Not sure what Echinque's problem was hanging on to the ball the first three or four times in. He has not had the problem this year.

If CU makes its free throws, it is up ten points with about 15 to go and is still up or even instead of down 5 at the 6 minute mark. Its a whole different ball game at that point. Not saying we would have won, but certainly didn't help our chances missing the free throws. Three things will be different in the rematch. You will see CU's posts shoot more than 9 times, you will not see AY shoot 4-18, and you will not see CU shoot 55% from the line. Unfortunately, I'm not sure you will see CU hold WSU in check as much as we did over the first 35 minutes of this game on its home floor.

No one booed either player when he was injured. We booed because there was no foul called when Stutz stepped on AY's foot causing him to fall on his drive to the basket. The vast majority of the fans clapped when he got up and left the court. They boo'd on the other injury because CU had numbers and was pushing the ball up court when the ref whistled the play dead. You never stop play for an injury like that when the ball is being pushed up court. That was just another in a string of ridiculous calls - and no I am not claiming all the bad calls were against CU. We have had this crew three or four times this year, and they have to be the worst crew. The young guy isn't bad, but the other two are horrible. He has to get tired of watching those two work.

I don't think you have anything at all to worry about there.

I worry about them all. Maybe I should start pounding beers an hour before the game.

With Mark Phelps as Drake's coach, I'm afraid that pounding beers for an hour before the game wouldn't be nearly enough to make Drake fans feel good about the game.

McBulldog usually starts at least 3 hours before every game.

Each and every one has his/her most desirable amount of prime time. If Mc needs that much, so be it.
