Weems is a no doubter right now. Scoring, rebounding, leading, he is the best player in the league.

Frosh: I like McDermott

Coach: Martin, can't give it to Lansing for beating MSU at home when you are the second place team...I think by the cards that was supposed to happen...Martin has a better record overall, same record in the conference with a much tougher conference schedule to this point.

MSU and ISU fans...please stay on topic...the game thread was locked for a reason. Would hate to see this one get locked as well.

POY - Weems
FOY - Doug McD
COY - Slight edge to Lansing over Martin (cuz he's doing it w/ younger players...Martin has four seniors starting...Lansing starts two frosh and another frosh often sees significant minutes).

I don't see a standout for POY, that could go to five or six diffrernt guys, it will probablygo to the MVP of the first place team at the end of the season. NOY is open as well. Doug McDermott as of now is the FOY. With the low expectations that the Trees had at the start of the season, Lansing has done far more than any Valley coach to date and is COY. Referee of the Year goes to John "Hollywood" Higgins just because of the nickname.

Agreed - most of the awards (at least POY and COY) go to the conference champ, or at least someone who was contending. At this point it is still too hard to say, but I would say

POY - Weems, with Ahlegbe in second
FOY - For me it is no doubt McDermott
COY - Probably 'Zo and I am not trying to be a homer, if not then I would say Lansing is the clear other choice at this point, but lets see how the rest of the season plays out. If WSU ends up winning the league then Beelzebub could end up with the honor!

I would pick McD over Warren for all conf. Freshmen shouldn't be left out because of their grade.

If the trees want consideration (or WSU for that matter) for all conference players, they should identify who the best player on their team is. Someone mentioned Lathan.....does he start? lead the team in any categories besides injury?

My choices are the same as everyone else. The one thing I would like to bring up about mc d from CU, is he has had a bigger impact on the "TEAM" than his counter part H. Barnes in North Carolina. I live in the Des Moines area and after watching Ames H S play numerous times, everything was about H. Barnes and team. But, everytime a game was over, we were always talking about Mc d. For all the hype that is H. Barnes, Mc D has been a solid impact for CU and will only get better------ Maybe a better college career impact then H B @ Chapel Hill????

As far as R. Rice goes for us Dog Fans... It maybe untill next year before our puzzle pieces get figured out a little more so R. Rice can be more of an IMPACT player.

Hard to believe McD is a freshman. Incredible talent.

I really hope a kids class isn't taken into consideration for these awards. McDermott is clearly one of the best players in the league this year.
