Yeah, that one caught my eye, too. I think what Phelps was trying to say is that Rice can play and hold his own at a higher level than the MVC. Strange way to say it; but it also might have been taken out of context.

Even if the phrase was taken out of context, stringing those five words together in any context by a Valley coach is inexcusable. You know that anyone recruiting against Drake and other MVC schools for recruits of Rice's caliber will use that phrase against them if it's brought to their attention.

Drake's PR people need to pull Phelps aside.
