Either Marshall, Martin, or Jacobsen get a new job. I'd watch Jake personally as I think now that he's back to reality and he has a little rebuilding to do, this might be a good time. I don't think schools have forgotten what he did last year and opportunities will be there if he wants it.

:+1:

Turgeon didn't leave WSU the year after making the Sweet 16; he left the year after the year after. He had a great deal of his roster coming back and probably thought he had a chance at making a run again.

Could Jacobson be in the same boat? He knew he had Ahleghbe and O'Rear coming back (or talked O'Rear into coming back) and seeing the state of the Valley maybe thought that he could make another run? They almost did and may have if O'Rear doesn't go down.

In terms of departing talent, Jacobsen, Martin and Marshall loose the most and would have the greatest incentive for jumping while the offers may be there. (Marshall has a fair amount of talent coming back, but loses all of the best bigs. With the amount of talent coming back, may believe he can stay toward the top with a JUCO big or two, so the urgency may not be as great for him as it is for the other two).

Marshall has Carl Hall coming in from Northwest Florida Community College, conference player of the year, who averaged a double-double, 6'8" tall, and 6'8" tall Jake White from Chaska, Mn High School. Also, 6'5" Evan Wessel, guard/sf, and Tekele Cotton, 6'2", pg.

Most think we will have a defection or two before next year, so we may not be done recruiting.

1. Jacobsen
2. Martin
3. Marshall
4. Simmons
5. Lansing

I would highly, highly doubt Simmons has an intentions of moving on. He is a hero in Evansville and looks to be somewhat turning things around. He is the last current MVC coach I could see leaving for greener pastures.

We'll have to see how things go with Carl Hall. With the health problems he has had, I imagine the medical staff will be keeping a close eye on him. And with Marshall having already seen one recruit collapse and die, I bet he is going to follow what the medical staff tells him about Hall.

Interesting story on Lowery's buyout from Todd Hefferman:
There is no buyout clause in the deal, only what the university would have to pay the 38-year-old if he was fired, which would be the full remainder of the contract. As of today, that amounts to more than $2.25 million. If Lowery were to resign, he would actually have to pay the university $250,000

He's gonna be gone.

Jesus, even the local papers are writing about how to get him out of there. This has gone on too long. Round up that money and get him out of there.

If that was in the Peoria paper, a few fans would be screaming about the drive-by media's agenda against the coach! Heaven forbid something of public interest is discussed!

More 'rag tag' journalism by Kirk Wessler of the Peoria Journal Star, weighing in on the 9 year tenure of Jim Les and whether this weekend should really have any impact on the decision of the administration.

This article angered some. Probably because it was full of facts.

I don't think Southern has 2.5 million sitting around or available to round up.

That said, reasonable people come to agreements all the time for less than the amount owed.

And that said, I'm not sure what it would take. Lowery seems like a pretty good person, but that doesn't mean he wants to take less than he's due on his contract.

He'd be well-served to take a settlement and hike up to Champaign to be Weber's assistant again.
