One thing I witnessed more of this year, were fans who were falsely under the assumption that if a team lost then the losing fanbases tickets were no longer valid. I was a few rows off the floor and several times a goofball would come and mention that we or those around us should move because their team was playing. When it happened the fan always had a large plastic cup of beer teetering in his hand, so no doubt that helped aid his rationale of seat improvement.

I'm stunned at the whining I've read from some UNI fans at how apparently "classless" it is for CU fans to "disrespect" their dance. First of all you're totally ignoring the fact that the song SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PLAYED IN THE FIRST PLACE! That was a tight game ON A NEUTRAL FLOOR and the arena busts out the UNI pump up song?!?!? I couldn't believe when they were doing it. That was total BS and CU fans should have been pissed. As far as CU fans mocking it, do you actually watch any college sports? This happens all the time. Watch a UT game. Their fans throw up the Longhorn sign and then the other fans do it upside down. Not once have I ever thought, "how classless"!! I've seen plenty of CU fans over the years that have embarrassed me but some of them doing the UNI dance didn't even register on my embarrassing scale.

Finally, in all the MVC tournament games I've ever been to over the years the one fanbase always tries to one up the other and it doesn't matter what two teams are playing. If one team goes on a run and their fans start a chant then the other fans almost always try and start a chant for their team that is louder. The one group doesn't quietly sit by until the other fans are done and then take their turn.

So I think it's really cool that your fans all do that dance, I think it's neat and all, but have fun doing it in your own arena, not on a supposed neutral court. Also, get a freaking grip! I can only imagine how it must just totally ruin some of your days if someone accidentally doesn't hold the door for you on the way into the grocery store.

As far as Shocker fans go, I had no problems at all and we sat in the Wichita State section during the CU-MSU game. I talked to the guy in front of me quite a bit during the game and he was a great guy. I KNOW there are some a-holes but I'm pretty amazed at how little confrontation I've seen over the years that I've gone down there.

Every team has assigned timeouts.
UNI chose to do their dance for their timeout.
I thought it was really cool.

Valley fans just can't handle their alcohol.

Yep - you can always tell which fan base has the most first-timers or are in the championship for the first time in a while because you start to see questions and complaints that the veterans already understand.

I will throw in my 2 cents.

When we were leaving after beating CU, the tunnel was packed with WSU fans. As we walked through them, I was telling all of them "good luck, we want the rematch in the finals". The responses I got were nothing but positive congrats to MSU and how they wanted to see us again as well. That went through probably 40-50 WSU fans and there were no pot shots or bad comments, just good clean competitive fun....and I had my 10 and 12 year old with me.

There are always bad seeds, but it definately does not represent a whole. Just some schools have more bad seeds than others.

From my experience, usually the team that wins the game will not get ragged on.

The intention of those assigned timeouts is for your cheerleaders to get floor time and for your band to be able to play. They then show the team logo "floating" on the ribbon board. Using the arena sound system or big screen is something that from my memory has never been done. Creighton for example has a bunch of videos that are used at the Qwest to pump up the crowd but I've never seen one in St. Louis.

I think it's cool they created a dance that the whole crowd can get behind. It's creative and fun. However, whining that another fanbase is disrespecting it is nutty.

Funny how the old "people in glass houses" thing gets some people all riled up.

I brought up the interlude, but never once really complained that Creighton fans were mocking it. What I was pointing out was that a Creighton fan was complaining about another fan bases actions, apparently assuming that his own fan base were perfect angels.

I think it is clear that is not the case and several historical examples have been pointed to in this thread. "Rubbing it in" is a part of sports culture and while I don't agree with it, I know there are some UNI fans who get carried away, and I probably have said some things that may be borderline in the past as well.

My only reason in bringing it up was to point out the hypocrisy of the original poster's complaint. Go ahead, mock it all you want, just don't come running crying and offended if someone does or says something to you after you get beat. What goes around comes around. Though I prefer the more Biblical approach of "Do unto others", even if I happen to support a public university and not a Christian-based one.

It is fine if Creighton fans want to mock us while playing us and beating us. I still have to wonder why they did it during their game against MSU?

I have no problem with Creighton doing it. I would expect if Creighton had done something mockable and we were winning it might have been us doing it back to them. It happens.

There are a holes all around this great country of ours so it is no surprise that a few of them show up in St. Louis for Arch Madness. I had a great time for my first time at Arch Madness in a long long time.
