Just got back from the game. I hope the Shoxs gave you what you wanted. I will paraphrase what Sub said only with a bit more emphasis: WHERE THE HELL HAS THIS TEAM BEEN ALL YEAR?

What a fun game to be at. All those season ticket holders who did not go missed out on one of the most entertaining games this year. On to Virginia. Don't know if we will win, but if our guys play like they did tonight, we will give them a run for their money. They were firing on all cylinders. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

That was a tremendous win for the 'skers. I see Doc Sadler's team making it to MSG for the final four of the NIT. They may not play a particularly attractive brand of basketball but they will play well enough to win in Wichita. They are a very, very underrated squad.

Wow was I ever wrong. Props to the Shocks. The only two times I watched Nebraska play previously they looked very good, but WSU was a heck of a lot better. Starting to rethink some of my tournament picks with having two big 12 teams in the Final Four.

I'll continue this thought with something Coldblooded would say:

This team might show up more often if it weren't bored to death playing Valley teams 18 times per year.

But seriously, we just screwed ourselves out of a chance at having a home-and-home series with Nebraska. It's been 17 years since we last played NU and it will be twice as long before the next time rolls around as a result of giving the Huskers a case of red-a$$.

A couple of notes about the game:

That was the worst loss UNL has had this year - and WSU played the walk-ons and Orupke for the last 3 minutes and change.

49 is tied for the lowest points UNL has scored this year. UNL scored 2 points in just over 3 minutes against WSU's third unit.

Osborne left his seat behind the UNL bench and grabbed a last row seat at mid-court.

This was supposed to be a "first to 50 wins" game. In an odd way that is exactly the way it went. With 17:17 left it was 50 - 23 and the game was pretty much over. UNL never got to 50.

You only think message boards, sports casters, journalists, and rumor mongers were mentioning Marshall for coaching vacancies. It went nuts with this game. Arkansas fans are hoping they hire Marshall. They're afraid if they don't Tennessee will and they don't want to play against him.

Isn't it possible an AD would watch that game and wonder why that team isn't playing in the NCAA coming out of the Valley this year?

That AD would pull up WSU's schedule and find out quickly. WSU's only wins over NCAA teams were both against Indiana State.

I made up a table of the best strength of schedule for MVC teams against the NCAA field. 50 is the best possible score in this metric (which I personally developed).

Ind. St 41.3
Wich. St. 35.9
Sou. Ill. 35.3
North. IA 34.7
Bradley 33.8
Drake 33.3
Evansville 31.5
Ill. St. 28.3
Mo. St 28.1
Creighton 27.5

Would that AD looking at Gregg's resume say "they had their chances?" Or not?
